Perfect for winter camping to help help warm your 4 season tent up a few degrees and help chase out condensation. Granted it's not a space heater every little bit helps.
I also keep one of these in my vehicles winter emergency bag. Had one in there for over 10 years and the original batteries in the little led light still work fine.
Love this lantern!
Candles burn for advertised times if you don't let the way so I'll out of the puddle. And the nice warm glow gives you some emotional comforton tthose dark nights.
I've seen multiple reviews around of people complaining about wax going everywhere and I've never had that happen in the 10+ years of using these in UCO lamps. So I'm not sure if they are using these in knock off lanterns with a different design, or if they are handling them so the wax spills or what. But just like any candle you are not burning the wick, but the vapor of the wax as it melts. So if let the wax spill you are essentially spilling out the fuel. Used properly in the lamp you get a small puddle, don't spill that and it will burn for 9+ hours.
Use mine for winter camping as a safer way to generate some extra heat without fear of burning my tent or monoxide poising. I also like it as a means of having soft ambient light without the need for a ton of batteries. I also keep a backup in the car during the winter as a part of my emergency winter kit.
Can't beat Camp savers sale price on three of these for 27 hours of light and hours of gentle warmth.
I have three of GSI's nested back pack cooksets that have the pinnacle coatings and all I can say is these skillets are just as good as all of those. In fact better since these are a bit thicker so you don't get that littel dimple that rises up in the center of the pan as they heat up. These showed zero warpage from heat.
The coating is so good that you may find them "to" slippery. Gotta be ca
Contrary to some reviews at other sites, YES you can use batteries other than Black Diamonds rechargable in this head lamp. The BD batteris just have about 1/4" of their shrinkwrap removed to provide a spot for a safety mechanism (little metal bump in the battery tray) so you can't inadvertenly try to charge a non rechargable battery.
All you have to do is trimm the same ammount of of the lable
