Nice Looking Crew

Written on Mar 03, 2018

I love Smartwool stuff and this one is no different. I like the look of the two tone sleeves because you can wear on its own or as an under layer since it’s a 250 gm. At the sales price you can’t leave it.

Nice, functional, and stylish.

Typical good quality Patagonia piece of clothing. Perfect for cool climates, but not really for super cold unless you layer. Runs a little big for my usual size L, but I am on the thinner side and thus is typical of the snap-t style which allows you to wear something underneath. Liked it so much that I got one for my 26 year old son too.

Very Functional

Didn't really think a quilt would be something I'd use with all my backpacking equipment since I am kind of a snob with good quality and practical equipment. I ended up buying this for my wife for Christmas and she loved it. I tried it one night and was shocked how much I really liked it! So, I bought one for myself. It is super comfortable with the foot pocket and it was big enough that I could completely wrap it around my whole body. I sleep with a down comforter at home and this felt similar. It kept me warm down to the low thirties and Probably down much lower with the right layering. I love the built-in hood, which for me is better than sleeping with a cap. It's light and packs down very small. It really is very functional and I will also take it to the Camino De Santiago, where I'll stay in hostels, and of course I will continue to use it for my cool, to cold, backpacking trips. Wow, I had to eat crow with my snobbish attitude because this really is a nice quality and very versatile piece of equipment.

Nice Stylish and Warm

Written on Jan 21, 2016

Own several Rab clothing items and have found Rab to be top quality and this vest is no different. It is light, yet very warm. However, I do have a heavier vest for colder conditions. It is functional enough for me to wear hiking, snow shoeing, and especially around town since it is very stylish looking. Zipper pockets are fairly big and the chest pocket is big enough to hold my iPhone 6 Plus. I am 6'2", 180 lbs and the large fit me well, with just enough room for an under-layer. I don't think you can go wrong with most Rab clothing and I liked this vest so much that I also ended up getting the similar Rab Microlight Alpine Jacket.

Great Jacket!

Written on Jan 21, 2016

Have a heavy Rab down jacket that I really like, and just got two Rab Microlight vests, for my daughter and me, and was really impressed with the warmth and style so I decided to get the Alpine Microlight jacket. Wow, what a nice addition to my rear that will be great for cooler weather activities such as backpacking, hiking, snowshoeing, and skiing, yet stylish enough to wear around town. Rab quality is always great and this jacket is no different. Super warm for such a light jacket and will be my go to jacket for most outdoor activities that aren't supper cold. I am 6' 1" and 180 lbs and I got the XL based on some of the reviews and for me it is perfect. Definitely not tight, or too big, but roomy enough for me to wear a heavy under-layer.

Another great Rab product

I have been really impressed with the quality and design of the Rad items that I have, and think they are every bit as good in quality as other manufactures such as Patagonia. I recently got a Rab ultralight vest and liked it so much that I got the Rab Ultralight Alpine Jacket because their design look fairly similar. Wow, what a nice light weight down jacket! It is stylish looking, well made, and fairly warm for a lightweight down jacket. I am 6'1", 180 lbs and generally order large, But ordered a XL because several reviewers, fairly similar in size to me, said they wish they had gotten the XL instead of a large because it was snug and a bit short in the body. For me the body length was perfect and the shelves almost a little long but much better than too short. It is not tight fitting so I can wear a heavier underlayer under it. I use it around town, snowshoeing, skiing, and backpacking, as it is really versatile. I like the hood with the adjustments and the large chest pocket that fits my iPhone plus. However, it is a little too light to wear by itself when it gets down into the thirties. This will probably be one of my favorite all around jackets. Can't miss with Rab, or Campsaver's Customer Service, because you can always send it back.

Good quality and very functional

Written on Jan 12, 2016

This is my third piece of Rab clothing and I think the quality of all there stuff is top notch and similar to other high quality manufactures like Patagonia. This vest fits slim and is both functional and good looking. I wear it around town on cold days and also wear for snowshoeing when it's not to cold. Love the front chest pocket because my iPhone 6 Plus fits into it. Can't go wrong with anything Rab!

Disappointed

Written on Jan 09, 2016

I have a great headlamp but when I used it backpacking I had to tie the head strap into a knot and attach a carabiner to the tent ceiling loop. Then too the headlamp was too directional and didn't light up the whole inside of the tent. I backpacked for over sixty days so when I saw the Snowminer I thought it was the answer to my dilemma. Unfortunately, I found that the light wasn't as bright as my Petzel, and the silicon bubble that converts into a dome light would not stay in that position. It is held in place by magnets, but the magnets were too weak to hold it in place. Great idea, but it was a disappointment and I sent it back. The only saving grace it that Campsaver has such a good return policy and great customer service and I was able to return it with no problem.

Nice good quality vest

Written on Jan 04, 2016

Have a few of my own Rab clothing items, including my heavy down jacket and found that Rab is every bit as good in quality as Other high quality clothing makers like Patigonia and such. Bought this vest for my daughter and she really likes it. She says it is stylish, lightweight and very functional.

One of my favorites

Written on Nov 21, 2015

This is my third down vest and it might be my favorite! I have a higher fill and warmer Cabelas vest, but it's a little too bulky to wear around town. I used it for camping and snowshoeing and wear it on top and with various layers underneath. I also have a Rab Microlight that I love because it's a thinner, tighter fitting, and more stylish to wear around town. It is fairly warm but too snug to wear any heavy layering under it. But this Mountain Hardwear is my favorite because it's in between both of my others. It's slimmer fitting that most bulky down vest (my Cabelas), but yet almost as warm. It is quit as slim fitting as the Rab, which is great because I can wear a fairly heavy layer under it, but it is slim enough that I can also wear it by itself and looks great, and can be worn under a jacket or parka. You can't go wrong with the quality of Mountain Hardwear, and at this price it's a good deal compared to other vest of lesser down fill.
