The SnowMiner from Snow Peak offers an innovative high quality headlamp that easily transforms into a hanging lantern. Use it to light up the trail or your tent. The SnowMiner's smart and patent pending design allows the lens to be easily removed with a single hand, converting to an amazing ambient light spanning 180 degrees. The multi-function, sleek design, and long battery life are all included with the SnowMiner.

Revolutionary use of silicone that focuses the lens over the LED for headlamp mode or diffusing the light as lantern mode
Using the power button, access 4 different settings: High, Low, Strobe, and Variable Dim
All joints, straps and buttons are designed to be functional even with the fat finger effect of wearing gloves
Variable mode dims the light by holding down the power button
Single LED operates on high, low, variable and strobe; hold down the power button to engage the variable dim mode to set the brightness at whatever level you want
Low battery indicator flashes when batteries need replacing
Runs on 3 AAA batteries (included) provides up to 140 hrs of operation on low, 55 hrs on high, and 250 hrs on strobe
LED outputs 80 lumens on high and 8 lumens on low

It's not the best head lamp
It's not the best small latern
but both functions are good.
Put that into one package so that I don't have to carry 2 thing and it becomes GREAT~!!
Versatile use for any purpose. The lantern design is very smart and perform to bright the campsite or within the tent.
Just worried bit for the waterproof, cuz there is no resistance-rubber band around the battery door, unlike my old Petzl Tikka XP. SP claims IPX4 rain resistance.

Great light in all respects. My only gripes are the fact that there is no lock that prevents you from accidentaly turning on the light when its in your pack. Until i discovered it on my black diamond spot, i had nearly spent a few trips with little to know light. Thanks Gd I had spare batteries. I guess if you position it mindfully you wont hae the issue. Used it both trekking pre-dawn hours in the dark - headlamp worked great with the adjustable angle. At night, used the lantern for cooking and in the tent. This is the only light source you need if you are a trekker.
I bought this headlamp to replace my other one that gave up. I love the direct beam/ambient lantern modes. It is a comfortable, simple and bright light to use. It also has a few brightness settings.
