perfect ice axe for moderate climbing

All aluminum construction with a steel tip allows lightweight functional features. Why bother with other general use ice axes? This was perfect. I like the curve shaft as it gives better leverage during self arrest. Rough sand paper-like grip on bottom of shaft offers peace of mind of gloves not slipping. 8.8 oz is for 50cm, while the 60cm one weights 10 oz.
