Reviews & Ratings for Exped SynMat Duo Sleeping Pad
— 4 reviews — Page 1
INITIAL THOUGHTS
I originally ordered from Campmore the Exped Simcomfort duo 7.5 but there was some problem with getting it from the maker so Campmore offered the Synmat Duo as a replacement at a decent deal. I likes their keeping me informed of the shipping and their willingness towork with me to fix a problem. Excellent Customer Service!!
I was hesitant to switch as the Synmat was thinner and the shape was funny but finally agreed as I am leading a kayak trip down the Colorado River in November so time was short and getting shorter. After reading the reviews and comparing stats, and w...

This is my second Exped mattress. The other one is the MegaMat which is amazing if you have the room. The SynMat I got was the LW version. The orange side has very soft material that feels a bit "felty". Has some grip to it so you don't slide around and soft on the skin. The pad has double inflation ports - this is basically two air mattresses together. To some extent you can adjust the firmness of either side. The best part of the set up is the Schnozzel inflation bag. Hate blowing up mattresses and the Schnozzel makes it almost fun. Also learned that it doubles as a dry bag and I'm using it as a pillow as well. My only complaint is that the Schnozzel fills the mattress but to get it extra firm I may take the little hand pump from my MegaMat to top off the SynMat. Also have not practiced enough with rolling it up/packing it. Not sure how Exped got it in the stuff sack but I can't seem to replicate that. So when you unpack... take some care in observing how they packed it so small. All in all we love this product. A bit more expensive but a great quality and should last a long time.
Pros:
easy to inflate
small size
Quality and design
Well made , durable, comfortable, attractive
Cons:
Price
heavier than expected
hard to get into stuff sac
Best Used for:
couples camping
Would recommend: Yes

I purchased this for use in my AT Overland habitat camper truck topper. It adds extra cushion to the mattress. Would also be great for added cushion in roof top tents. It inflates very quickly with a 12v inflator. With the included M schnozzle it take 4 fills let side. With the L schnozzle it takes 2 per side. Dual chambers allows custom adjustment for each person and prevents bouncing when the other person moves. This would be great for ground tent camping. The Synmat deflates quickly and folds/rolls easily. However, if you have the space, the Exped Megamat Duo, which I also own, is awesome. It is just more difficult to deflate and roll up in a RTT.
Pros:
Speed of inflation/deflation
Dual chambers
Inflates/deflated size
Cons:
Stuff sack a little too small
Best Used for:
Two people or lots of room for one
Would recommend: Yes
