I tried several of the Fjallraven parkas and went with this now discontinued Kyl model. The features I liked on this one that not all of the others had include the inner sleeve at the cuff (keeps out drafts), the side access hand warmer pockets (not all models have this), the design of the inner pockets where I store my gloves once I come inside, and finally, the sections with the added fleece lining (particularly the hood and neck areas). While the zipper is on the opposite side from my other jackets, I quickly adapted to it. The faux fur on the hood seems rather cheap compared to the rest of the parka, but I have found many genuine fur options on Etsy that can be used as a replacement. I know most people find the sizes to run large, but I have found the opposite to be true. I am 6' 3" and 217 pounds and normally wear a size XL, but across four different Fjallraven parkas, I found the XXL to be a great fit. The XXL is none too large in the body and I find the sleeve length to fit much better than the slightly tight fitting XL.
Pros:
- Fit
- Hood
- Warmth & weight
- cuffs

We are under a polar vortex now in nyc. It was 18F this morning and I wore my NEW jacket for the very first time and was toasty warm! Jacket definitely fits BIG! I normally take xl, the jacket is L and its definitely on the big side.

First off some specs: 5’11”, 185lbs, average/slightly wide shoulders, slightly round belly. Bought the MED and fit seems great. Normally wear large shirts. MANY pockets throughout—will not lack space. Adjustable hem and waistline with drawcord. Seems like durable exterior. Good loft to down insulation—still room to layer a wool sweater if need arises. Heavy coat—feels like all of five pounds. Great!!

The quality of this jacket is amazing. Can't wait for real cold weather to try it out. Nice looking parka. It is a fairly heavy jacket but feels great wearing it but certainly gives me confidence it will be around a long time.
Best Used for:
- very cold weather conditions

Seems warm, but I did not have a chance to test it outside yet. It is very well made. Thoughtful design. Fits great (M - 6', 175Lbs. ,) I like the hood and plentiful packets.

First off, this jacket is WARM. You can't wear it above 40 degrees. I walk 15-20 minutes to work each day, and at 20-25 degrees, I'm comfortably warm everywhere - arms, neck, body - you're going to be comfy.
This coat is bulky - it's over 4 lbs. But with this much goose down, it's what you should expect. There's a handy pocket on the outside that zips (I hate velcro flaps) that's big and can hold a lot of stuff, plus multiple pockets inside. You'll be set for storage.
The snaps cover the zipper, so if you're in inclement weather, that won't be a problem. ONE GRIPE - the zipper is on the OPPOSITE side from what us USAers use, and that takes a LOT of getting used to - I actually had to ask for help to get this zipper done once. It's a challenge and requires some practice, and the zipper doesn't latch easily. If the zipper was on the other side, this jacket would be perfect. Other than that, it's a phenomenal cold-weather jacket.
For sizing, I usually wear XL, but these run big. I got a L and wear a dress shirt and undershirt and it fits well.
