Most Helpful Positive Review Easy Setup. Works.
Setup was easy. Paired with Garmin Explore app via android phone. Intuitive setup. Test messages successful. I had the chance to test it out while flying. Was able to send/receive text messages and location info with no problem. Battery life seems good, but I have not tried it in track mode for extended periods. Subscription options can be tailored to individual use needs. Pairs with Garmin Fenix (smart watch), Garmin Pilot App and Edge 1030 (bike computer), among other Garmin devices, for useful features and convenience. This thing is great!

There are several steps to go through during the initial set up but, after that, the inReach Mini 2 is extremely easy to use. It paired easily with my iPhone, the app is easy to use and the communication tools are great. Most of my backpacking trips are solo and the inReach made it easy to to let loved ones see where I was. I set it up to send tracking points at 10 minute intervals so they could follow along on my journey. Plus, I could send them a note or they could send me one. All easy. Press the power button and it comes to life and connects to your phone quickly. I went back and forth a little bit about getting the inReach Mini 2 or a larger unit that was less dependent on carrying my phone, too. After using it for a trip recently I know I made the right choice hands down.
