best lightweight backpack

by sonny, Verified Owner from NJ, United States Written on July 24, 2021
I chose the optic 48 as my first bag for backpacking. It was the best choice. It provides ample storage space and has a stable hipbelt. It also includes a rain cover, which makes it very attractive. I would recommend it as an introductory bag for bpl.
Pros:
  • Light
Cons:
  • None
Would recommend: Yes

Awesome lightweight backpack

by Anthony T., Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on April 27, 2021
I was looking to transition from the heavy overloaded style of backpacking to something that I could reduce my weight and move easier on the trail. I have the Baltoro 65 and love that pack but watched some YouTube videos on this and it really is great. It is super light and has plenty of room for everything you really need. Solid pockets on the outside besides the hip pocket not being big enough for the iPhone 12 pro max. Very comfortable and seems to be built well.
Pros:
  • DURABILITY
  • weight
  • Build quality
Cons:
  • Hip pockets don't fit a phone
Best Used for:
  • Lightweight backpacking
Would recommend: Yes

Gregory’s fit and quality in an ultralight pack

by Taras, Verified Owner from DE, United States Written on June 12, 2020
I’m a huge Gregory fan, There are lighter packs out there, but there is no lighter Gregory pack. It definitely has the feel of A Gregory. It flexes when the shoulders turn. None of the stiffness of an osprey. It definitely lives up to their phrase “you don’t carry a backpack, you wear it”. Quality materials, the cushioning is great. Minimalist, definitely ultralight. I’ll need to baby this as I’m usually pretty hard on my gear. Wouldn’t recommend more than 30lbs for an extended period.
