Love these crampons for hiking when a bit more than microspikes are needed.

Crampons that fit wide heel boots
I had been looking for some time to find crampons that would fit on my size 13 wide heeled 400 gram winter boots. For this boot size most crampons would not work since the boot would sit too far forward on the crampon heel and then would come off under certain conditions. The ones I had tried were designed to work with a narrow heel boot, i.e. mountaineering boot. The placement of the heel tabs on the Hillsound Trail Crampon Pro are positioned a little differently allowing the use of a wider heeled boot. The boots are easy to put on. One concern I have is the use of orange alpine stoppers which prevent the straps from accidentally getting released. They are relatively small and run the risk of getting lost.
One final comment regarding Hillsound’s names for the different models. Hillsound crampons and Hillsound crampon Ultras are actually similar in design to what are frequently referred to as MICROspikes or spikes. Historically crampons refer to traction devices that have much longer spikes and require stiffer boots. The Hillsound trail crampon Pros are indeed crampons. This has created some terminology confusion among the winter community. Also a one word unique model name would be desired. In some trail reports the hikers will only mention that they wore their "Hillsounds". It is not clear which model they wore!

Perfect for me!
I tried different brands, but when my friend loaned me her Hillsounds, I knew I found the perfect pair. These are easy to put on and take off, they feel secure on my boots, and best of all, they have excellent grip, even on sheer ice.

Well made product
I'm excited to try these out! They seem very well made. I like the adjustability, and the way they are compact for taking up less room in your pack. I am looking forward to trying them out on a climb soon!

The perfect trail crampons
These crampons are the best bang for your buck. I day hiked up 5,000 ft. of elevation in pure snow with these and they worked great! The only thing is that if you're hiking up some steep icy slope you can't rely on the tow spikes to get you up it as much as heavier duty crampons will...but that's why they're called trail crampons.

Fits snowboarding boots!
These are my first pair of crampons and they've been fantastic over packed snow, ice, and even rocks without bending. They've adapted to hiking boots and snowboarding boots, although I will say if your snowboarding boots are larger than size 10, go with the XL.
