Hoka ATR 5

by Mightyute44, Verified Owner from UT, United States Written on May 13, 2020
Loved the 4s and after putting over 400 odd miles on them, I opted again for this shoe. I did try the Speedgoat 4 but realized I didn’t get enough cushioning. I have a neuroma so it’s thicker shoes from now on. So I shipped those back to the other store and got a killer deal on these. The durability of Hoka is hard to beat. Haven’t had blow out like other brands and can well run into the 300-400 miles without issues. Definitely recommend.
Pros:
  • cushioned
  • durable
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Trail running
  • Ultrarunning
Would recommend: Yes

A stable, cushioned trail running shoe.

by Dave, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on November 21, 2019
Looking for a more durable, stable trail running shoe. I have been running in Altra Olympus for about four years. While I like the Olympus, they tend to wear out fast and don't provide much stability. So far, the Stinsons seem to meet those criteria. I have run about 40 miles in them and have tested them on all terrain including treadmill, road, non-technical single track, and very technical mountain trail. While they are a little stiff (like the old Montrail Hardrocks), they are very stable and have shown no signs of wear. If they hold up well over the next several months I will stock up on them.
Pros:
  • cushioned
  • durable
  • stable
  • great traction on multiple surfaces
Cons:
  • a little stiff out of the box
Best Used for:
  • Trail running
