Nice out of the box, cuts well, splitting wood just fine, haven't chopped any limbs at all yet, but it cuts well and fits on my pack perfectly, thanks!

I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend. He loves it and uses it to chop up firewood and clear small trees.

I was looking for a light weight axe with a longer handle and this one is perfect for me. I'm 5'6" and have had no issues using the akka one handed -- the handle is not so long that it gets in the way. It chops terrifically, and splits great. It's very comfortable anyway you hold it.
The sheath is very sturdy and well made. Getting it off when you're wearing gloves is a little challenging, but I appreciate the simplicity of the design.
I've been using it to de-limb and break down more than 30 dying ash trees (40' - 60' tall) that needed to come down. It's been perfect for the job. I started out using a 15" hatchet, but got this after a few trees for the extra reach and power.
My only complaint is that the handle grain is more than 45 degrees from parallel to the axe head. It may or may not become an issue. I just feel like a premium axe with a premium price should have better grain orientation.
I enjoy using this axe, and I'm looking forward to taking it backpacking.

The Hults Bruk Akka Foresters Axe is very maneuverable in the hand like a carpenters axe, as well as large enough to limb trees and cut down smaller diameter trees. I use it for camping, backpacking, hunting,....etc....very good all around light weight axe

Hults Bruk makes some of the finest quality, hand made, hand-forged axes on the market. You can tell that a lot of time goes into each axe. From the hand-forged Swedish Steel head to the comfortable curved hickory handle, it's made to be used time and time again.
A lot of people think that an axe is just an axe, but that's not true. The key is: Buy nice or buy twice. I've had two (Box Store) axes, the head broke off of one and the handle splintered in the other. After multiple weekends of use, the Akka Forester Axe has stayed sharp, the head hasn't moved or needed mending, and the handle is still in perfect condition (as to be expected with quality Hickory wood). Like I said, buy nice or buy twice.
The Akka Forester Axe is one of my favorite tools and quite possibly the nicest tool I've ever owned. I really appreciate the craftsmanship and quality of this axe.

The smell of sweat and pine trees. Strong callused hands. Dark leather suspenders over your favorite old flannel.
A thick beard full of wood shavings. Testosterone pumping through your veins. A sight that would make any woman week in the knees.
You can tell that Hults Bruk put a lot of time into this axe. 1.5 lbs of hand-forged Swedish Steel, 24" of sweet American hickory, and a unique perfect fit leather sheath...
This my friends isn't just a tool, it's a work of art. Just holding it sends shivers down your spine.
With the Hults Bruk Akka Forester's Axe you feel more than just human. After one swing of this axe,
you'll feel a strange sensation of power take over you. A power that needs to be transferred into raw, pure, and unadulterated energy.
Energy to take down any obstacle the trail may have for you.
You wouldn't use this axe to do embroidery (Malawian Proverb). Nay, you would use this axe to do exactly what it's meant for. To GET THE JOB DONE.
But fair warning my friends: This axe isn't for the faint of heart, no, this axe will change a boy to a man.
After one day with this axe, you will have a chest full of hair... Like a bear... Like a man.
