Perfect for smaller logs - Hults Bruk Bjork Splitting Axe

I bought this as an alternative to using a splitting maul, and wedges, especially for smaller, straight grainy wood. It works perfectly. The light weight allows you to spend more time splitting while also helping to ensure precision strikes. It’s also much quieter that a sledge/wedge combo. Larger rounds take a bit more effort, working around the perimeter, from opposite sides, but it still gets the job done. It excells at breaking down smaller sections for use in wood stoves. I took a few minutes to clean up the edge with a sharpening stone before using it for the first time, and it’s held an edge quite well. Could use a slightly longer handle. For crotch wood or tough grain, you’ll still need a maul and/or wedges, but this axe can take care of everything else in style.
