Most Helpful Positive Review Stove to have near!
Handy, Stainless very well built. Fuel by what nature provides, OR by a Alcohol stove. (my idea, not manufactures, used a Surplus swiss mil stove, common item, boiled water in 6 min. The Alcohol stove sits perfectly in the base, and the Grill parts work in the base over the stove. PLUS you and the stove stay clean). Had to adapt the handles, as manufacture says use the wire handle on the sides to

Kelly Kettle Trecker Stainless

by Jeff, from WI, United States Written on September 20, 2017
This review is based only one the visual aspects of the product as I have not yet had the opportunity to try it out. Overall the Trekker looks to be pretty well made. Seems to be of a thick enough gauge of stainless to be fairly durable, however I do think that the finish could be better. The stainless looks to be more of a brushed rather than polished type, and is especially evident on the underside where the fire will be. Would be easier too keep clean of soot with polished stainless. The other areas that I see that looks like it could use some improvement is the wire bail and the tabs that hold the bale, which are both pretty small gauge of wire/sheet and needed to be straightened as they were both a bit crooked. Cosmetic only on the bail and would not have effected the operation but I question the longevity of the tabs. Other than that the unit looks to be as advertised and I am looking forward to trying it out.
Pros:
  • Endless supply of fuel
Cons:
  • Large physical size for the amount of water capacity

Stainless Trekker

by Steve F., from MI, United States Written on January 25, 2015
I took this kettle on a couple of snow shoe adventures so far. A fantastic addition to your camping supplies. Heats up water super fast and is easy to use. The additional weight over a lightweight cook-set is offset by the speed and ease of the Kelly Kettle. I'm glad I bought it. Thanks Campsaver for a great deal on a great product.

Really Excited about the Kelly Kettle

by Delighted Hiker, Written on May 5, 2014
My husband hasn't used his yet. His friend had shown him his small Kelly Kettle and said he uses it all the time when he goes hiking. My husband can hardly wait for good weather to try his out!

Better than expected

I use the trekker for backpacking. It would also work for primitive camping where there is no electricity available. You don't have to worry about running out of fuel. For longer hikes it would work too, especially in those areas where campfires aren't allowed. Even on backpacking trips where you can have a campfire, it is still useful in areas wheel wood is not as plentiful because it will burn j

Like it, but takes longer to start

by A Cosmic Being, Written on April 3, 2014
I was looking for a camp stove that burns wood and the Kelly Kettle seems like the most tried and true one. I use it for car camping, and I like that I will never have to worry about buying fuel. I'm not the most experienced camper and I'm pretty slow at getting a wood fire started. I can see how this would potentially be really frustrating, especially if it is cold and raining and you want your t

My wife LOVES this thing.

by Family Man, from CA, United States Written on April 3, 2014
We took this on a 4-day backpacking trip with 9 people and it was plenty fast to provide boiling water for all of us within a reasonable amount of time.
It cools off fast and is nice and light to carry in your backpack.
Lighting a fire is a sinch and very quick.
