Reviews & Ratings for Kelly Kettle Ultimate Scout Kit
— 10 reviews — Page 1
I like all the stuff that came with it. Kettle boils about 1 liter of water. Enough for 2 people. Glad i didn't go bigger for my purposes. It's quite large and seems well constructed. I would like for the bail wire to be heavier, but it works. Mine arrived with a chipped wooden handle. Not worth sending back, but a quality control issue as the box and overpack were not damaged in any way. Boiling water on the stove takes longer than what people are reporting on coals. I don't have a good time, but it seems like about 10 minutes. It isn't as efficient as I had imagined. The platform that sits a...

I bought this for airplane camping as a solution to not having to carry fuel aboard my airplane, but be light weight, compact and safe in areas where open camp fires ill advised. This thing works great! Surprised how much compact heat can be generated from a small fire of twigs and pine cones. Only regret was ordering the scout instead of the large kettle. I was on the fence. Manufacturer web site said Scout good for two people. Larger kettle for families and groups. The scout with the plug in after boiling kept the water hot for much longer than I would have expected. The only problem I’ve had is keeping the plug and chain from getting dirty on the ground or too close to the fire pan when heating water.
Pros:
Compact, well made, efficient
Cons:
None
Best Used for:
Airplane camping, hiking

Nice, compact way to travel with a stove. This version might be a bit heavy for backpacking, but great for weekend camping. It is really easy to use and the water boils amazingly quickly. I will certainly use this for quick cooking options and heating water.

Only a quick test in the back yard so far but it worked as advertised boiling water in on a few minutes with a handful of twigs and small pine cones. Looking forward to using it on my next trip.

inside box was damaged which left minor abrasions on the kettle. outside box was perfect so obviously campsaver shipped a beat up box without looking at the item. they offer to replace the kettle but lets face it, if i wanted to rebox and run down to ups to return, i'd just go to the store and buy the item.
