Scott's Review of Kelty Salida 2 Dome Tent - 2 Person, 3-Season
I just got back from a hunting trip in the Gore mountain range in Colorado and used this 2 man tent for myself. I am 6' 3" and weigh 235 pounds for reference so a one man tent (especially with all my hunting gear) is inadequate. The Salida 2 is very easy to set up and took about 5 minutes including the rain fly and footprint. My daypack, camp shoes, and boots fit in the vestibule with a tiny bit more room available. I fit comfortably in the tent though either my head or my toes are touching the tent wall when laying down. This isn't a problem for me, but for taller people it surely will. I don't think I would use this tent with another person as it will likely be cramped with no room for extra gear/clothes in the tent. For just me I was able to have all of my clothes, pad, quilt, and some other odds and ends in with me with plenty of room to move around. I am also able to sit up in this tent without the roof crowding my head. The main reason I am giving this tent a 5 star rating, however, was the performance during the terrible weather I experienced. I had 4 days of wind, rain, and temps in the 30's and kept warm and dry in this tent. There was even a puddle of water from runoff under my tent and nothing seeped through. If I had to give a negative critique it would be that the tent does not come with a footprint or a gear loft. There are loops for a gear loft so one can be made at home, but still. All in all, when you factor in the performance, ease of use, weight, and cost, this tent would be tough to beat.
