I haven’t had the chance to camp in it yet and really test it out. I have set it up though. The setup is dead simple, the tent appears to be made very well, there is enough room for me and my gear, the vestibule is also of good size.

I had to replace my two person tent that had been gifted to. It was cheaply made and its days were numbered. I am a fan of Kelty products so I did a search for Kelty tent and decided on the Salida 2 Dome tent. It has quality Kelty construction, and is super easy to set up. I'm just getting into hiking/backpacking and was looking for a low-priced tent when I stumbled upon this gem. Camping Location: Five days in Caprock Canyons in the Texas panhandle Camping Conditions: One night of light rain and 2 Days/Nights with high winds (gusting to 35mph). The rest of the trip was perfect. Coming in under 5 pounds in my pack and an easy set-up/tear-down -...

The Kelty Salida2 was the lightest version of this tent I could find in this price range. To lose a few ounces would be very expensive. The quality of fabric and the worksmanshop is very nice. My friend had a $400. tent that has a more prestigious name, but the quality was the same. I added a footprint and attic;now I am ready for my annual bike trip.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • Lightly heavier than my Clip Flashlight2.
Best Used for:
  • Times when a free standing tent is a must. I replaced my beloved Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight2 in case I need the freestanding feature.

Lightweight ,2 person tent, better for 1 person and gear. Tough little tent , easy set up. I use it in the ocala national forest , and like the air flow with this tent as for me it’s my hot weather tent. Lots of screen..
