fred's Review of Klymit Inertia O Zone Sleeping Pad

I have tried it out on a variety of surfaces, although realistically this is a trail pad. I wanted worst case from laying on a hard floor to being on a rockier trail to being on softer ground. The pad initially is going to feel flat when you sit on it to position yourself. That's just the nature of it. It only feels comfortable with your body spread out evenly. It is long enough for me at 6ft to not feel my foot overhanging. The attached pillow is a mixed bag for me. I like positioning my pillow differently for back and side sleeping, but nothing a roll of clothes under it could not fix to lift the pillow up more. I do tend to roll (from back to side and it's either side). It's not as comfortable for side sleeping as my klymit static V, and on harder surfaces you get more pressure points over the hours. It is very small though and quite light. I won't use it for short backpack trips or weekend camping, but it should be really good for week long backpacking treks with the boy scouts.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
Cons:
  • Comfort
Best Used for:
  • Backpacking (multiple days)
