Better hiking shoe than approach shoe
I bought these as my first pair of approach shoes knowing nothing about what an approach shoe really had to do. I was just told I needed approach shoes for an upcoming trip. Well for what the trip was (alpine climbing in the Tetons) they worked fairly well. Lots of mileage and not much actual climbing while wearing them. But as soon as we started doing some more traditional climbing with legitimate technical approaches and descents, I quickly realized they weren't the best choice. In my opinion, these are much more geared towards non-technical hiking-type approaches. I found that for actual cl...

Bad lace design
I've had 4-5 pairs of these over the years and worn them until the soles are worn through. They are so comfortable (once broken in) I wear them for work or play. I've bought a pair for my 3 adult children and they all like them for hiking.

Worth its Weight
I have had this shoe a while. I actually have a lot of different shoes as I am one of those people that constantly look for something better. I am not sure there is anything better if you want good grip and protection, especially protection. If you are going to be on your feet for very long or on a lot of rough terrain getting to that technical climb, these shoes are worth their weight in spades.

Boulder X Approach Shoe
Bought these for summer hiking but did not try them on in a store. When they arrived I felt they were a little too small and I'd pound my toes descending the mountain. Shoes were lightweight and would have been good if they didn't run small. Unfortunately the stores near me don't carry them so I couldn't try on the different sizes to get the perfect ones. I ultimately returned them and am going to get hiking shoes since we do more traditional hiking than approach.

Boulder-X
Top notch approach shoe. Good mid-sole rigidity for climbing in aiders all day, edge and smear pretty good. The heal is nice for those long slogs down the trail after the climb. I wear a 42.5 climbing shoe for multi-pitch and 43.5 for trail shoes (both La Sportiva). I bought these in a 43 and they are perfect for aid climbing, but the 43.5 would be a better all-day walking shoe.

Sorry That I had to return them!!
Unfortunately sizing is on the small size and they just did not fit. Order 1 size up. Great Customer Service-no hassle return.

Great shoe
I found these shoes (boots, really) to be a perfect compromise between a climbing boot and a running shoe. Four Stars

Not quite ready to pass judgement
They are comfortable but run about a half size small. On my first hike one of the leather eyelets let go. It appears that the eye was missed when the shoe was stitched.

Sturdy shoes
They're a bit heavy but very sturdy. They withstand use and abuse. The sole's pretty sticky, too. This is my 4th pair.
