Favorite sport and gym shoe

by BryceU, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on October 21, 2025
Katana Lace were my first non-beginner pair of shoes. 5 years later, they are still my go-to sport climbing and gym shoe. Comfortable, versatile, excellent!

Best climbing shoes!

by BO J., Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on September 7, 2024
I bought a new version 43, but it was too big, so I repurchased it in a size 42. If you're worried about the size, it's going to be solved by reducing the full size than the tc pro. Never buy a baggy size. Don't forget these shoes are performance shoes.

Best climbing shoes! But too big!!

by BO J., Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on August 18, 2024
I bought my size though there was confusion in other people's reviews. But this new version is too big!! I'm wearing tc pro, miura, miura vs. 43, solution, cobra is wearing 42.5 so this new katana chose 43 but it's too big. Feels like a size 44. I hope you get full size down to buy these shoes.
Pros:

Cons:
  • inconsistent size

All-around excellency

by BryceU, from CA, United States Written on May 20, 2020
The Katana Lace was one of my best climbing purchases to date. The technical performance, comfort, and durability are all spot on. I climb mostly sport routes on granite in the Southern California area and this conquers all. The edging performance of this compared to some other shoes I have tried is incredible. 10/10 would recommend and purchase again if these ever wear out, but after 8 months of climbing regularly they aren't showing much signs of use other than needing a resole soon. Excellent shoe and craftsmanship from La Sportiva.
Pros:
  • Comfortable
  • durable
  • Edging
Cons:
  • laces fall apart
Best Used for:
  • sport climbing

Better for cracks than TC pros

by Michael, from CA, United States Written on October 27, 2019
I have been using the TC pros for all types of trad climbing. This shoe is very similar except the tongue has more cushion and the sole is stiffer, making it much more comfortable in crack and better performance. If the size is tight, you may need to take them off every other pitch because of the slight downturn
