Most Helpful Positive Review I love this thing. Wind resistant and light, with polartec alpha
I bought this as a shoulder season piece, and a layer when I am on the mountain. It more than lives up to this goal. It pulls over a t-shirt and allows me to sit around at mildly chilly temps in the high 50s, but pulled over a tight gridfleece and wicking layer it stood up to sub-freezing temperatures with gusty wind. I was actually surprised how well placed the wind resistance was, and how wide the range of temperatures that this is useful at. It won't stop all wind, and if you are sitting static on the mountain - get out a belay layer. BUT if you are moving, this piece stays warm in a m...

stylish and functional jacket

by Ray, Verified Owner from DE, United States Written on September 11, 2022
It's a designed and functional jacket that gives me a decent amount of comfort outdoors.
And because of the excellent design, I also wear it when I am in the city, and my friends often ask about the model of this coat.
I quite recommend wearing this jacket for outdoor activities in cold climates. It's a good deal if you buy it when it's on sale.
Pros:
  • stylish
  • cozy
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • outdoor
Would recommend: Yes

Impressive mid-layer

by M.Y. CHEN, Verified Owner from Taiwan Written on February 14, 2022
Using this jacket for alpine climbing in Taiwan. It maintains well breathability and warmth during the fast mountaineering in the in cold and humid environments.
The wind resistance on the front of the jacket also works well, but I'd wear a hard shell or warmer jacket in harsh weather, which is not the the best time to wear it.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • Good breathability
  • well packability
Cons:
  • Expensive
Best Used for:
  • mountaineering, hiking

Beautiful mid-layer

by Matthias, from UT, United States Written on April 20, 2021
Pros: Comfortable fit (so, 5'-11", 230 lbs.), looks great, bought after the ski season ended, so I can't speak to the usability yet, but I'm convinced it will perform flawlessly. I own another Mammut mid-layer as part of my ski instructor uniform and it fits and performs perfectly. Cons: Can't think of any yet.

Awesome layer

by Talon, Verified Owner from CO, United States Written on March 28, 2021
The Eigerjoch hybrid jacket is not only functional by stylish as well. I’d call it an athletic cut garment. I am 6’4” tall, 225# with a 46” chest. The XXL fits just right! The arms allow you to swing an ice tool above your head without pulling up. Both pockets are climbing harness and backpack compatible. It’s s great mid layer or stand alone in warmer weather.
Pros:
  • Lightweight insulation
  • Good fit for climbing
Cons:
  • May need to size up. Check their size chart.

A rare extreme jacket

by charls, Verified Owner from OR, United States Written on September 30, 2019
a light outer jacket with good wicking properties, very breathable insulating jacket consisting of a water- and wind-repellent Pertex Microlight outer material and a Polartec Alpha insulating filling for intensive stop-and-go activities. elastic Pontetorto stretch fleece inserts integrated on the sides and under the arms and, for unrestricted freedom of movement when climbing.Elasticated cuffs with flat thumb loops give the wind no chance and the pockets are easily accessible even when wearing a climbing harness or backpack.
