Most Helpful Positive Review Great so far
It's worth mentioning that I have not had the coat for long, nor am I using it for its intended design. My main usage is for winter commuting, where I cycle along a lake for large stretches of time and combined with the wind chill, the weather can get pretty vicious (though by no means am I climbing Everest). For context, cold for my location is -15 to -30 C plus windchill which can get really ugly on the water. I recently rode with nothing but a mid-layer in -8 degrees C + strong winds and was actually lightly sweating without the armpit vents. The hood perfectly comes up over my helmet, and...

Horrible Fit, but amazing jacket

by Gearslut, from MI, United States Written on January 16, 2018
So this jacket ticks all the boxes. Best materials, looks awesome, great pockets, pit zips, hood works in all situations with and without helmets BUT...and this is a biggie. The size is strange!!!
I'm 6'2'' and long arms, narrow shoulders 170 lbs 38 inch chest.
I bought a large.
It binds in the arm pits and at the elbows with just a baselayer and fleece or nano air on. If just a baselayer it is fine.
The body seems very large, if you have a potbelly you're good. The chest seems tight though. size chart says this should be like a 40-43inch chest.
The arms are a great length though.
I'm too skinny to want to try an XL...I think the hood and collar would be like the cone of shame and I don't want to wait, try it on and then send back in for something else.

good luck!
Pros:
  • materials, workmanship, design,pockets, hood
Cons:
  • Fit
Best Used for:
  • someone who can fit in its weirdness.

Best shell ever

by Vince, from QC, Canada Written on January 16, 2018
I am 6 ft tall, 180 pounds, bought large and it fits perfectly compare to any other shell i ve own before. Internal mesh pockets are perfect for keeping my ski skins warm during alpine touring descent. Zippers are easy to use, gore tex is top of the line. The powder skirt is also more then welcome on powder days where do you want to get all wet from snow or very windy summits. Simply the greatest and the price from campsaver is unbeatable.

The jacket si solidly made and fits well (but, I would say, on the small side).Color is more beautiful than in the picture, it is a vibrant blue. Fulfilment was perfect and the price (in sale) was very good.

Great Wintersports Shell

by rock, Verified Owner from chongqing, China Written on November 27, 2017
I have primarily used this jacket for snowshoeing and ski/snowboarding. I also own the ArcTeryx Theta AR. I bought this one to have a trimmer fitting alternative potentially for climbing. It definitely is a slimmer fit compared to the Theta AR but I was able to wear a light insulated layer and a mid-weight base-layer underneath without feeling uncomfortably restricted. In length it comes down to about 2 cm below my iliac crests. I have not had any problems with the fit and finish of this jacket and honestly harbor no gripes there. The hood/collar is a little awkward as it is best either completely unzipped and splayed out (and catching snow) or zipped up with hood up (which is excellent but I don't always want the hood up). The pockets sit high which is fine except I did find myself pining for an external chest pocket or sleeve pocket. There is an interior zip pocket on the left which was nice for stashing an RFID card. It has a removable powder skirt as well but I haven't tried to remove it.
