Marmot 8000 Meter Pant - Mens

by Hiker099, from NY, United States Written on February 25, 2018
The Marmot 8000 Meter Pant - Mens pant is extremely well constructed. It is made of very durable material. Has full length zips, a rainbow zipper..a very well robust suspender system. However it is cut too larger. The fork is too low.

Marmot should make 8000m gear for women as well and try using cuben fiber as an outer shell.
Pros:
  • Well made, full length zippers, rainbow seat, good suspenders, strong out shell material.
Cons:
  • Heavy, cut too large, low fork.
Best Used for:
  • Mountaineering ONLY

Almost Perfect

by Tiffany B., Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on March 25, 2017
These pants are so close to perfect; I was looking for warm and waterproof and they are both. They also don't constrict movement in any way. But... the pockets are terrible and the straps are too long. There are no pockets to put your hands in when your gloves are off and the pockets they do have are awkwardly located and small. My complaint with the straps is that the shortest they get is still too long for my 5'4" frame but they get long enough for someone 7' tall. So if you're not short and don't need pockets, they are perfect for you!

Sort of awesome

by Mark B., from TX, United States Written on February 18, 2015
have nit yet used this well constructed garment as my expedition to Svalbard to film the total eclipse of the sun there on March 20th 2015 does not begin for another two weeks but I can say that this is a very fine garment. There's not much to go into as far as details as every detail is excellent. The color scheme was bought only because it was the only one available and yes, it's sort of ubber bright and a bit crazy but I'm delighted with it! If nothing else, it is distinctive and out in the wild that's just fine. I was happily amused with the fully zippered rear end which when fully open exposes your entire backside! Sounds comical but I can totally see just how usual that might be in the right circumstances. I thought this item was pricey as it rivaled the cost of my Canada Goose parka but it is just as vital and as substantial. For long night out filming aurora you want to get this right and this lightweight piece will make getting up the mountain much easier then the old ex-military kit I am replacing. Cant claim to know how it performs yet but I have high hopes based on my examination so far.
