I bought my first Ama Dablam 10 years ago and its still going strong, even after dozens of times in the washing machine. My new Ama Dablam has narrower baffle sections, which I am guessing is to prevent the down from getting unevenly dispersed. I am 6'-0" at 175 pounds and the medium fits me perfectly. For me, this jacket is perfect for temps in the 60's with a t-shirt, but I have little tolerance for being cold. My 20 degree rated sleeping bag is comfortable down to 40 degrees for me - just to give you an idea of my cold tolerance level. In 10 years I will probably buy another Ama Dablam jacket.

Used in the deep South Island of New Zealand's alps this jacket is perfect. Super warm, great fit with the extra material around the arms and protects from the elements. I'm 5'7", athletic and a Small fits perfectly. Highly recommended for a technical outdoor jacket great for hiking and mountaineering.

A great jacket. The Large is a little roomy, but the Med was too tight. I'm 5'8 and 160

I had a twenty year old puffy parka I needed to replace. The price seemed right. It wasn't as puffy as I'd like, but it's warm as toast. Hope it lasts twenty years. I plan to.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with this jacket; so why did I return it? I'm over 65 and need a winter coat to support my daily walks in an environment that includes both wind and cold weather - not to mention snow! I had the Quasar Hoody, and it fit well, but it wasn't warm enough (guess I didn't generate enough body heat to make it work). The Ama Dablam seemed a better option for me....more down, better warmth factor. Problem solved? No. I'm particular about jacket hoods, and this one is "helmet compatible" (larger than I need for suburban adventures). It does have multiple adjustments, but still leaves gaps around my face and neck -- even when I pull the cords as tight as I can. The jacket was as good as I've found, but just doesn't work for me. If you're more of the consumer that Marmot is targeting with this design (snow, ice, mountains, and long duration outings in those conditions), then this is the jacket for you. Sorry it didn't work for me.

Excellent loft and quality. I wish it were slightly longer.

Good value for money when on sale. I’m 5.9 150 lbs and the small fits great with room for layering. Moving up from a Marmot Zeus (another great jacket that I have worn for several years) and am looking forward to the extra protection of the hood.

This coat is seriously warm while remaining very light and packable. I haven't owned the coat for very long so I can't comment on its durability. I will say I am worried about loft retention and tear resistance.
