This knit cap is wool with a fleece band to cover the forehead and ears, which make it totally "no itch". That's good! In addition, because it's heavy wool, it also is extremely warm. That's better! Finally, the knit weave is a little looser at the top of the head, allowing it to breathe -- your head doesn't sweat. That's the best of all! Buy this knit cap, and you'll be as happy as I am.

I ordered a size small in this coat, after trying it on in a local store. However, this one was about 3 inches too small across my chest and stomach; it wouldn't have come close to zipping up. The next size up wasn't available so I have ordered a replacement -- another Carhartt that I hope will be sized better.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with this jacket; so why did I return it? I'm over 65 and need a winter coat to support my daily walks in an environment that includes both wind and cold weather - not to mention snow! I had the Quasar Hoody, and it fit well, but it wasn't warm enough (guess I didn't generate enough body heat to make it work). The Ama Dablam seemed a better option for me....more down, better warmth factor. Problem solved? No. I'm particular about jacket hoods, and this one is "helmet compatible" (larger than I need for suburban adventures). It does have multiple adjustments, but still leaves gaps around my face and neck -- even when I pull the cords as tight as I can. The jacket was as good as I've found, but just doesn't work for me. If you're more of the consumer that Marmot is targeting with this design (snow, ice, mountains, and long duration outings in those conditions), then this is the jacket for you. Sorry it didn't work for me.

I had the non-hooded version, and exchanged it for the hooded version because I found I needed the hood. For me, it turned out to be a mistake: it seems as if the "fill weight" didn't change, even though a hood was added. In other words, the hooded version was less "puffy"; in fact, the hood had very little down in it. Don't know if this manufacturer's specification, or just my impression, but overall, this jacket wasn't as insulating as the non-hooded version. I'm really sorry I got a "lemon", because I love Marmot jackets -- this one just didn't work.

I initially ordered a medium in a color I was told was "black" (Night). It was a Medium, and seemed like exactly what I wanted: inexpensive, high quality, warm down jacket -- except I needed a Black jacket. Campsaver worked with me and made an even exchange for the Black color, but the Medium was at least 1 size too big! So big that I couldn't keep it....Not knowing what size to order, I exchanged the jacket for another item. Too bad, because the Rudolf jacket would have worked if it fit.

I like Salomon shoes...sometimes. When they fit, they are great; when they don't, you've got no chance! This shoe is a "no chance", unless you know how to guess what size fits you. I wear an 8; not with this shoe. The width is snug, but not too snug; the length is way too short (should I go to an 8 1/2, or even a 9)? What happens to the width? I hope you have better luck guessing than I did.

I'm a winter jacket enthusiast! Since I've retired, I've gotten serious about my fitness, and walk almost every day, year round (temps vary from 0 and below, to over 100). I needed gear that supports cold weather use. I have wool and polartec alpha for layering, and down for the top layer (with a rain shell for days when it's both cold and wet. I have 2 Westcomb hooded down jackets for the really brutal days, and now I have the best option for all the rest: the Marmot Quasar Jacket.
The sizing is good; allows layering if I want, but also fits well for basic warmth when I'm running errands. It's very light, and very warm. Something about the down quality, the fill weight, the amount of down, the outer fabric, or the combination gives it a warmth factor that I haven't found in other jackets (and I've tried a lot of them!). I don't camp in winter, or ice climb, or ever do much wilderness hiking in winter -- lots of time on wintery suburban streets, though. I'm satisfied that this will be a jacket that will see lots of use, and will last me for many happy years.

I love this jacket. It's warm, fits well (Medium, on a 158 lb. 5'8" frame), is durable, and was priced right. Montane is a maker of great jackets, and I'm glad I finally found one that is both functional and affordable. My only negative comment is that now that Spring has arrived in Missouri, I won't be able to wear it for several more months!

I wish I was more flexible about these things...I've never worn an Anorak, and thought this would be a great time to try one out. I really like the Quality of Brooks Range jackets, and the price was just too good to pass up. The fit and warmth of the jacket were fine; so what's wrong with this picture? I just didn't like the "pull-over" concept for the way I was going to use the jacket. I'm a suburban guy who wanted a coat for cold weather walking, and spectator sports, but it had to be something I could easily shed if conditions changed. This didn't prove to be that easy to take on and off, particularly if seated on bleachers at an outdoor hockey game! So, as good as it is, I chose to go another direction. My "loss" can be your gain.

I don't ice climb, or rock climb, I just enjoy being warm in cold weather! This coat is very high quality with 140 grams of Primaloft Gold, and Pertex Quantum fabric, and it's light weight. It's sized accurately (I wear a medium), and still supports a full range of motion. It almost feels "stretchy" as I can wear layers under, and it's not too tight; I can wear it over just a base layer, and it fits snugly -- how does it do both???? As you can tell, I love it.
