Arctic Outflow
The Marmot Leadville Jacket answers my bells. I’m old enough to have owned and used many, many jackets, in diverse settings; for xc skiing in moderate temperatures, this one is fantastic: blocks wind in front, breathes out the back. Another thing I’ve always liked about Marmot is the sizing: an XL is an American XL. I’m happy.

Nice jacket but not a true softshell
Super nice jacket love the feel of the exterior. A true soft shell jacket has a fleecy inside and this is more like a windbreaker with super breathable side panels. If it has the light fleecy layer inside i would love it and rate it a 5. I popped the tags off right away because I love the color (steel onyx) and wore it that day. There is 0 warmth at all. Inside is completely mesh so it does breath incredibly well. Its love Marmot gear and this fits well and this does suit certain environments but not the pacific northwest unless you are on a Summer summit trip.

Fit and feel
I haven't worn this out in the mountains yet so this will be on fit and feel. I'm not familiar with soft shell jackets but I wanted one for the three seasons, wind and light rain. I weigh 160lbs. 5'10" jacket size: Medium
I like the fit, and the arms are long enough so if I'm stretching for that next hold while climbing my jacket sleeves don't ride up my arm the torso length of the jacket covers the lliac crest. The pockets are deep enough for snacks and the chest pocket is a good fit for the smart phone.

Sleeves too tight
Loved the feel of the material and the Windstopper fabric, but the sleeves are just too tight. I am 6'-4" 220 lbs. and bought the XL. the length and body fit were perfect. I have standard size arms (not built like Popeye), but the sleeves are skin-tight. No way to ever think about a base layer underneath, and the first time I took it off I noticed the arm stitching was coming undone. Unfortunately a major design flaw.

Nice jacket that is great for layering
Well made and a good fit. It won't keep you warm but is great as an outer layer. It has enough room to add warming layers underneath and keep you mostly dry.
