On the very first outing with this tent, we camped in an open meadow we have camped in countless times before. When we awoke, we found the tent covered with grasshoppers. The mesh shell under the rain fly was covered with them, and they were eating the tent! They ate holes in the fly and the mesh, but they were particularly attracted to the mesh. As mentioned, we have camped in this same spot for years and this has never happened with any of the three tents used there before, even during years when the grashoppers were particularly plentiful. There must some sort of fabric coating Marmot used that attracts plant eating insects, and as we found out, Marmot will not warranty the tent for insect damage. We took extensive photos of the damage, even ones that clearly showed the grasshoppers digging into the tent fabric, and submitted them with our warranty claim, to no avail.
