The Montbell U.L. Down Jacket is exactly what I expected it to be. Very light, very simple, but not so spartan that you don't have pockets for your hands. If your looking at this jacket you know why. It's all about the weight!

This is probably the best bang-for-the-buck ultralight down jacket on the market today. As I started paring down my pack weight, I decided to pick one of these up & I'm extremely glad I did. It replaced my Patagonia R1 jacket (and a couple other fleece sweaters) as my cool weather insulating piece and saved me about 5 oz. It's very warm for it's weight, and it breathes pretty well. It's so light that you barely notice that you're wearing a jacket. The quality and detailing are top-notch.
The sizing is what I would call 'Standard' - it's just a bit 'blocky'. I use mine as a mid-layer down sweater, so I sized down. The XL was too big in the body, so I ended up with a Large. It fit's nicely through the body & shoulders, but I wish it was an inch longer in length - both in the torso and the sleeves. (I'm 6' 5", 220 lbs.) Another complaint is that it does not have a drawcord or elastic gather at the hem, so cold air can sneak into the jacket at the bottom. Still recommended, though!

It's a nicely made jacket and very light, but the sizing is off. I initially got a Med, which woudl normally fit me, but it was so tight on the chest that I couldn't zip it closed, so the chest sizing is at the extreme lower end for a med. Then I got a large and the sleeves were very long, much longer than most larges. Normally, the light weight and elastic at the wrist openings would handle a

I use my jacket all the time. It is so lightweight I wouldn't know I had it on except for how warm it is. When backpacking it is easy to bring along in its small stuff sack. My son uses his to work in outdoors. I don't know what I would do without it. The only thing missing is a pocket which could double as a stuff sack, but that would probably add weight, which is important when you're wearing a

1. VERY light
2. Perfect TRAVELLING companion
3. EXTREMELY warm
4. Best BANG for the DOLLAR.
5. Optimal protection against cold and wind with minimal weight !
6. Keep it always in your traveling bag
1. Should have a tie/elastic on the bottom of the jacket to keep the cold out.

I loved everything about the jacket except it just didn't have enough insulation. A few more ounces of feathers would give it some more loft and not add much to the weight or compress-ability. I returned it and decided that the alpine model would be more suited for my expectations. I am 5'4 and about 125 lbs. The small fit great with enough room to layer with a thin undergarment. The sleeve cuffs

Loving this jacket. The Mont Bell UL Down jacket has performed well in light rain. The tight weave on the fabric makes it pretty water resistant. With only a long sleeve mid-weight layer and the jacket I was comfortable in 45 degree temps. The jacket has good wind resistance as well. Main benefit is the lightweight design, I hope to use this on some upcoming backpacking trips it packs small and li

I considered this for a thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail, and heard many good things about it, and finally made the decision to buy it a few weeks ago. It arrived quickly and has fulfilled all of my expectations. It is lighter than advertised, very warm, and fits well under a rain jacket or windshirt. The sleeves are slightly longer than I'd personally like, but I knew that was a possibility,
