Mont-Bell U.L.Thermawrap Jacket

by KarlosJ83, Gear Expert from UT, United States Written on September 10, 2011
Used for two weeks backpacking at Philmont(Scout Scout Range in NM). The jacket was great! Warm during the early morning and late at night.

Superlite weight but warmer and more windproof than polartec. Outstanding product!!!
Most Helpful Positive Review A perfect tool for my outdoor toolbox
great little jacket. It's nice to be able to bring an insulated jacket with me on almost any outdoor adventure with very little weight/space detriment. Cosmetically, the fabric isn't shiny like alot of other jackets in the same catagory so you don't have to look like Derek Zoolander on the trail

Very Light Weight and have used on 4 day hikes this winter as a outer layer for warmth with Temps between 32 and 50 degrees. I also used it layering it under my hunting parka for hunting from my tree stand all day.Holds in body heat well, I would recommend this product.

Quickly became a favorite jacket

by MKT, Written on May 5, 2014
When I moved back to the Pacific Northwest from Southern California, I initially assumed that I should wear fleece a lot due to its ability to stand up to rain better than down can.

But I read about the various lightweight insulated jackets that are available nowadays. I bought a very lightweight down one, but reserve it for hiking situations where weight and volume are at a premium, and I'll ma

Light. Warm.

by mkt, from OR, United States Written on May 5, 2014
Having had good success buying lightweight down jackets, but wanting something that would be less vulnerable to rain (so that I could wear it practically every day through a Pacific NW winter) I decided to try the Montbell UL Thermawrap. I'm quite happy with it so far. It's heavier and perhaps a bit less warm, than the down versions, but is still a good deal warmer and lighter than the fleece ja

Runs Small

by vtgorilla, from VA, United States Written on April 3, 2014
I typically wear a 42 in jackets/coats. The size chart for large says 41-43, so I figured it would be fine. It was way too snug...I fit in it, but it wasn't comfortable and the pockets pulled funny (because they don't have zippers). I certainly couldn't put an extra layer under, which I imagine I would want to do occasionally.

It was also significantly shinier than the picture on this site.

good for what i need

I was looking for a compactable, warmish, light jacket to take the place of the heavy fleece I usually take with me that is a pain to fit into my pack. This thing is great for exactly that purpose. A piece of advice; I found I was on the border of medium and large according to thier size chart. Went with the medium and it fits perfectly on me and under my golite rain jacket. Also a great layer to

Surprisingly Warm For its Weight

by va3pinner, from VA, United States Written on September 10, 2013
I've had one of these for about three years. Replaced all my fleece jackets. Lighter than fleece, virtually wind proof, compresses down to about softball size, it accompanies me on every hiking trip. It's been great by itself in 'fleece temperatures', a nice addition under hooded parka for real cold, and wonderful wearing it inside a sleeping bag. Lets me carry a lighter weight bag in the winter.

Featherweight warmth

by Bitt, Written on September 10, 2011
I really like this jacket - I added it to mix for lightening up the pack. It is very lite weight yet warm and stops the wind. Packs smaller and performs better then any fleece jacket I have ever owned.
The downside....I guess I am in between sizes. To get the fit for my shoulders I had to go XL - but now my sleeves are 2" long and I would need a huge gut to fill out the the thing. Yet, I still g

Great Ski Piece

by Robert the Flor, from FL, United States Written on September 10, 2011
Though MontBell doesn't really push the skiing angle all that much, this is a great ski piece. Layers great under a softshell for early morning laps and as the day warms up packs to almost softball size in the corner of the lumbar pack. My mid-layer fleece will stay in the closet. Received as a gift last month; too soon to comment on durability. Received several compliments on recent Alta trip.
