Most Helpful Positive Review Don't miss Montane Products
I have to admit that this is the first Montane Jacket I have ever tried. My general view is why have I missed this product line until now. Clearly Montane products do not get the love they deserve from the buying public. The brand name is generally obscure, at least it was for me. Maybe my exposure is just lacking but these have never been mentioned in the top ten reviews I have read. Regardless of the product. The product is well designed, well made from quality components and material. For me the fit was listed as athletic, which in clothes speak means slim fit. They are not lying. If you li...

Montane Jacket

by Dave, from PA, United States Written on September 15, 2023
What a great find, I was not familiar with the brand before seeing this jacket on Camp saver but am glad I found it. Immediately bought more Montane gear after this was delivered.
The jacket is extremely well made, the quality and attention to detail is evident even before you put it on. The current price on Campsaver is a bargain for a jacket of this quality, free shipping and quick delivery too.
The material is soft and comfortable yet study. It has a good two way zipper with a chin guard, no problems with annoying zipper catches on the fabric behind like you get with some jackets. Pockets are deep and warm, they are set slightly higher than usual allowing a backpack waist strap to be fastened. The Primaloft fill is warm yet packs down small for the amount of warmth it provides. The shoulder, waist and wrists are not baffled like the body and arms and are likely a bit tougher for these higher use areas. The hood is also insulated, it has draw strings to tighten down and has an adjustable metal insert for the peak. The hood can also roll down into a thick collar if preferred.

For me, the fit is perfect. 5'10 185lbs, size large. I usually need a large jacket but they are often slightly too big allowing cold air in, this is probably more fitted than most jackets of comparable size but not in a skinny jeans type of way, it fits very well and looks good too. It leaves enough room to layer.

It was purchased for off season hikes and around town on cold days. Looks like it will...

Incredibly warm for it's weight

by Ryan L., from VA, United States Written on March 21, 2021
Athletic fit is fantastic and fits my build perfectly (5'11, 190lbs). Zero wind pass-through and the hood is great with the added structure of the wire brim. When the hood folds into the collar it makes a snug fit around the neck to keep the warmth in. Tight weave of the exterior is very smooth and doesn't make much noise when moving. Great jacket.
Pros:
  • athletic fit
  • Warm and good quality
  • Quiet shell material
Cons:
  • left-hand zipper (vs. traditional US right hand for men)

Great Jacket

by Doug, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on March 18, 2020
Best Hood Ever! Wow do I love the hood on this jacket. The wire reinforced brim can be adjusted to my liking and the fit around my head (no helmet) is fantastic. As indicated by the specs this one is a bit heavier than some but durability is an asset. Sizing is slim. At 5'8" and 165lbs I'm always between the M and L sizes. A large in this jacket is a bit tight around the upper back and shoulders for me but I'm not slim. Probably warmer than I need but I'm not in the frozen north.
Pros:
  • Hood
Cons:
  • None
