Most Helpful Positive Review Mountain Hardwear Rook 30F (40F comfort / 30F limit)
The Mountain Hardwear Rook 30F bag isn't a superlight mountaineering or backpacking bag, but that wasn't their design intent. It is an occasional backpacking / car camping bag which is reasonably well made. It has 12 oz of 650 fill duck down with a #5 YKK anti-snag zipper and a 40F comfort / 30F limit rating. Nothing fancy for the shell as it is DWR coated nylon, as is the lining. Good Car Camping/Trailer Camping Bag

by Laura, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on November 26, 2022
I bought this bag for camping in my teardrop trailer and it works well for that purpose. It is lightweight and I can actually roll it up and make it fit in the compression bag it came with (unlike some other bags that I can never make fit that small). It also comes with a larger regular bag that it fits in with little effort (I use that for a down blanket instead that I can't fit in its compression bag). I have slept in this bag in the 30s and 40s (my teardrop doesn't have heat) and have been comfortable. The bag itself does get very cold to the touch on the outside (it's nylon), but stays warm enough on the inside. The bag has a little wiggle room (for a smaller female, at least), which helps because I am normally a side sleeper. Overall, a good quality product from MH that I would recommend.
Pros:
  • Small to pack
Cons:
  • None

Light weight which saved me a pound from my older bag. Compresses small and easily fits in my sleeping bag compartment of backpack. Come with compression sack. Have plenty of room to add pad and pillow in compartment. Roomy but stills keeps you warm. Kept me warm at 40 degrees f.

  • Light weight
  • compresses small
