Personal Favorite!

by FreddieinCA, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on April 12, 2018
Excellent taste, and way lower in fat than many mountain house and other freeze dried meals. Good protein content, and a decent amount of vegetables as well. Good for variety in your travels or long term food supply. Recommended!

Chicken Teriyaki - de-light on a cold night.

by Dan, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on January 19, 2018
The children, family loved it. I though it need some extra flavor. I added a tea spoon of szechuan sauce to serving. Not bad without or with the extra flavoring. Will purchase more at this great price.
Pros:
  • Ease of use
  • easy to store
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Snow, cold weather, everyday winter!
  • Snow and ice conditions

Good eating.

This meal was originally purchased by our Boy Scout troop by popular demand of the boys who had previously eaten it out at Philmont. It has become a regular purchase for all our backpacking trips to Harriman State Park since it is so well liked.

Wasn't to thrilled

by Tmaida17, from NY, United States Written on May 5, 2014
I love chicken tieryaki with rice but I didn't think there was enough flavor to it. I was disappointed to be honest. Oh and word of advice while camping during the winter months keep it wooking on your stove because I let it stand in the bag for 10 mins like it said and being it's cold I let it stay in there for 30 and still wasn't cooked enough. It was warm but not cooked. Lesson learned.

Mountain House backpacking food is pretty darn good. When I go out on the trail I am not expecting my meals to taste like I'm eating at some fancy $100 a person restaurant. However, I do expect to get enough protein and nutrition to keep me going, and a good taste. Mountain House hits a home run here. I LOVE the Chicken Teriyaki way better than the Beef Teriyaki. A "2 Person" meal could easil
