MR packs are super solid, this one is no exception. Ideal for 2-4 day hunts, or simply a day pack. Doesn’t have little pockets but the two on the lid are nice. You can always order hip pockets, got molle ones off Amazon for cheap in the coyote tan.

Metcalf is a reallly big pack for hunting or backpacking. Design well with many useful detail. The big zipper help easy to access the main bag. the lid is big as well can put many thing into. If there is hipbelt pocket, it will be perfect.

Love this pack. Can't go wrong with a mystery ranch pack. I have multiple mystery ranch packs and love them all. Great for all types of hunts or back coutry adventures.
As advertised this pack is stout and comfortable. Looking forward to many years of memories this pack will endure.

Mystery Ranch makes some really durable packs. I bought a bigger one a few years ago (the Marshall, I think) and absolutely love it. The Metcalf is smaller (4300 cubic inches vs 6400 on the Marshall) but it’s still a large pack. The frame, straps, and belt are really comfortable and adjustable. Heavy loads are no sweat. I like pockets on my packs for the smaller stuff and the two up top are perfect. All the heavy fabric, zippers, and adjustment straps add to the overall weight of this pack so that’s not one of its most enviable features, but durability sure is. This is military grade equipment.
Does anybody else think retailers could make it easier to compare pack sizes? Cubic liters, cubic inches, CCs. And often no pictures on a human. Makes it tough to know what you’re buying. Anyway, I’m very happy with what arrived!

I have been holding off on buying a new pack for elk bow hunting, until I found the one that was a “Goldie Locks” fit that was just right for what I needed. This pack is everything I wanted and more! The meat shelf (or whatever you need to pack between the frame and the rest of the backpack) is fantastic. There are minimal pockets, but that is easily addressed with the available Zoid bags. The built in camelback pocket and the water bottle pockets are perfect and user friendly (finally a pack that I can reach the water bottles and put them back on my own without taking the pack off). The materials and workmanship that went into every detail of the pack are top-notch….obviously designed by people who use backpacks and have high usability requirements… and came to the table with one that addressed every shortcoming they experienced in previous packs…plus additional wish-list features. The adjuster straps are easy to use to balance the pack given how much…or how little you have in it. The padded waist straps are easily adjustable and extremely comfortable whether I am hiking for miles or riding an ATV for hours over unforgiving trails. Price: Sure, it is a chunk of change, but still a bargain compared with big-name brands I was comparing…..this pack is worth every penny! It is everything I need for a day pack…or a pack for several days of hunting, fishing, camping…….or whatever else I could throw at it in any season!

Mystery Ranch Metcalf - I can't say anything that hasn't been said before - adjustable fit, plenty of space and easily accessible compartments. Campsaver shipped fast and easy. Would definitely do business with them again.

Was looking for a versatile pack to use for a day pack or multi day hunt. Very good construction, and comfortable loaded down. Looking forward to using it on my elk hunt this year, wanting to see how well the load shelf will work for me

Great upgrade from previous pack. The pack is made to be customizable. More than enough room and very comfortable. Can’t wait to haul some meat with it. The built in meat shelf will help tremendously with heavy loads.

Best value for the price and totally does all I need for Hunting. Love the overload feature and the camouflage pattern. Also the adjustable fit. Great quality. I did considerable research on this before I selected this pack.
