First off, I really hate getting swamp back like with my old backpack. The ventilation with this pack is so much better!!! Also, I can carry a heavier load (20-25lbs) without any back pain (Osprey has online tutorials about how to pack, adjust, and put on your pack - it's more technical than you think, so check it out). I wouldn't suggest buying this right before a backpacking trip as it does take some time to break in. When it's still stiff, it tends to ride up. In fact, I almost gave up on it until this last hike when it felt fantastic. It just doesn't move. I was jumping across boulders, bending over to my toes to fill my dog's water dish, and generally not acting like I was wearing a pack and this thing stayed put. Also, it comes with Osprey's new ultralight 2.5 liter bladder (which is the best design I've used so far) and a packable rain cover in the bottom, which really works well and is convenient. My only complaint is the pack makes some quiet squeaking prior to breaking in completely. Playing with adjustments seems to fix it and it's doing it less often for every km I put on it. I would definitely recommend to even the beginner backpacker/day hiker.
