I totally love this pack. I have used it backpacking, motorcycle backpacking and as a travel bag. I'm 6'2" 285 pounds and its the most comfortable bag I've ever owned. As an adult I have been involved with scouting for 29 years. That's a lot of campouts and backpacking trips. I have bought and gotten rid of many bags over the years. I did have an external frame pack I love and used for 15 years until I used the frame to make a Halloween costume and lost the bag section. Been looking ever sense for a new backpack. This one is by far the best bag I have used. The top comes off and turns into a day pack which is really nice. After you setup camp, you don't have to carry your big backpack when you adventure out. It has plenty of compartments for organizing where you put your gear. for the last 7 years I have been an ultra light backpacking. I've been using a home made Ray Way backpack. but now that I'm older I don't sleep well without a few comforts. This bag is big but still light. I had a bag this big once but it weighed over 8 pounds empty. This one is still under 4 pounds. I pack light enough that I don't use the hip belt. My base weight is still under 20 pounds and under 24 pounds in the winter. I go solo winter backpacking in the winter. this bag is big enough that I can carry everything without needing a pull behind sled. We also enjoy Motorcycle backpacking.
