This is my go-to layer for the colder months (and when they blast the A/C at work in the summer). It is great over a sweater and is not too bulky for a shell to be worn over it. I got one for my teenaged son and he managed to put a big nasty hole in it in a bicycle wipe-out. I sent it to Patagonia and they fixed it right up and it looks good as new. I paid for shipping to Patagonia's shop and they fixed it and mailed it back on their nickel. This sort of service is one reason I don't mind paying a bit extra for their products. It also washes up pretty nicely.

Perfect fit, great look. Very warm and comfortable vest. Would buy again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend. Great service and delivery by Campsaver. I have a Pategonia puff jacket as well. Never disappointed with the quality and fit of their product. There are a lot of lookalikes and “copies” out there but Pategonia is the real thing. Accept no substitutes! The quality of materials, filling, cut and stitching are superior. A good test for comparison is the zipper. Smooth as silk, no hang ups, easy to engage. I am a very happy and satisfied Pategonia customer.

Bought the vest when it was on sale earlier this autumn. It came in handy when the cooler to cold weather came in.
The men's XL vest fits true to size and is lightweight.
It has 1 cinch point on the lower right side, 2 front zippered hand pockets and 1 inner zippered pocket. Should keep a pair of gloves in the hand pockets which will keep your hands relatively warm depending on the weather when the vest is worn.
Wear it above a long sleeved shirt and a fleece sweater and it's relatively warm.
It's warmer if you wear the vest underneath a jacket esp. a down jacket as an insulating layer.
It's lightweight so you can't really wear it when temps are in ~<30s F but it's fine when it's warmer.
It blocks some wind but not entirely especially when it's very windy.
Vest is not meant to be worn when it's raining but it is water Resistant for very light drizzle. Otherwise, it will get soaked very quickly.
Overall, it's a relatively warm down vest for moderate temps.
Get it when it's on sale ~ end of summer/early autumn.

I am 6'0, 182lbs and the large fit perfectly. Its a bit puffier than I thought it would be but nothing to steer you from buying. Its extremely warm, pockets are placed perfectly and has a nice inner chest pocket. I really like the forge grey with the red zippers and I wear a forge grey R1 full zip jacket underneath it. Cant imagine there is a better vest out there.

I bought this vest to gear up for the summer backpacking season. I haven't field tested it yet.

It appears well-made. It has decent loft and there're no feathers sticking out. It has two pockets on the outside and one on the inside-left that it can indeed stuff into. There is one cincher on the inside right to tighten around the waist. Zippers are YKK and have rubbery pull tabs.
