This parka is what I've been looking for! I have yet to test it in truly cold weather as it's summer in AK right now, so it's not getting below 40- maybe It is with wind, but this is my go to for a lightweight packable item just in case the weather turns sour. I took it on a very windy canoe ride right after I bought it and was never close to cold. Quite the opposite. My friend who convinced me to buy his jacket loves hers. She doesn't even wear a rain jacket in our SE Alaskan Showers and it maintains it's loft. Can't comment on durability yet

Purchased both to compare for trip to Sapporo in Feb. Both 800 down jackets are built for the cold. They’re big and fluffy. The RAB is longer in the back and covers more of my butt (good for sitting on cold surfaces) and has a warm fleece type material on the front of the neck. It also is made from a material that makes a “crinkle” sound that may annoy you as well as a zipper that is opposite of what I’m used to. The Patagonia Fitz Roy may be slightly sleeker, has zipper on conventional side and the hem is level. I love Patagonia, but chose to keep the RAB.
