Best technical GoreTex shell w/ removable hood!
This jacket is awesome, and the only one I could find in this caliber WITH a removable hood! Typical great Patagonia quality. I love the small waterproof zippers. My one complaint is that the armpit vents don't have a mesh barrier. Not a huge deal, unless you go down at like 40 mph and spray snow aalllllll up in there. Then again, the zips are open because it's warm out, so it's not a deal breaker for me.

I had a 4 year old version. It fit like a glove. 5' 11" with 35 arms; 40 shoulders; 162 lbs. I I got the medium.
Like the other poster mentioned, the fit across the shoulders is far more restrictive. For me, if I bend my arms, the sleeves pull hard. Otherwise, it is almost too big everywhere else. The large on me looked like a bowl. Even the medium is pushing it. It is no longer an athletic-cut. Perhaps for most people this is a good thing, but not if you have a physique closer to one of the catalog models. Try before buy.
The Good
The new one now has Goretex. It makes the jacket louder - sort of wish they would of kept with their H2NO. It also makes it stiffer - not as supple.
The hood is now doable with a helmet.
The Bad
The jacket is longer on the torso and not as form fitting. I have to make sure I lift it up when I sit down on the car or chair or the jacket gets pinched.
Can we get jet black again? (not the faded black of the last few years)

Very solid
I have only worn this coat twice but it serves its purpose beautifully. Kept me bone dry yet breathed nicely. Am headed skiing soon and will further test it. I don't anticipate being disappointed.

Patagonia Powder Bowl Jacket
Bought this jacket for shell to go with my Marmot Zeus Down Jacket. Perfect to layer with now I am very warm in almost any condition. The only thing is the fit accross the shoulders of the PB jacket feels tight when layering at first. I did not notice the tightness once the jacket was zipped up and ready to go.Other than the fit may be a little tight for a shell the material and construction is go
