I've used a number of these and finally bought my own. These units seem like the gold standard of all of the ascenders on the market - comfy in hand, works well every time and takes a beating. I have no complaints about these. I haven't jugged any long pitches with these yet, but it seems like that will be comfy.

The Ascension is much lighter than it looks, I don't even notice the extra weight in my pack. Used in conjunction with a foot loop and Grigri, it is perfect for SRT which I use to climb trees while deer hunting.

This is a great ascender. I have had a lefty for years, saw this righty at a great price and decided to complete the set. Wide range of rope diameters work well, light kit, and comfortable to use. Can’t go wrong with Petzl.

Out of all the hand held ascenders I have used- this is the best. The ease of opening, closing and the contour of the grip are well thought out and as an added plus its fairly lightweight in the pack for longer days.

A STILL have a pair of this original model that came in the blue and yellow, right and left hands. They have served me well over the years and continue to be a valued addition to my rack. The design is nothing short of perfect for any needs you may face on big walls and beyond. The exceptional design has stood the test of time, and other manufacturers are now even starting to mimic it. They are ve

These ascenders are intuitive, color coded, and light - they work well.
My only qualm is that it feels more difficult to open the rope-grabbing mechanism than I think it could be. In a way, that is a sort of built in safety that prevents someone from accidentally opening it, but I still think it could stand to open more easily for one handed operation.
