Platypus GravityWorks 2.0L Water Filter Complete Kit
I've used the GravityWorks 2.0L Filter System on many desert and mountain multi-day trips and have come away rating this piece of gear as my absolute favorite! It excels while hiking along the trail or when a base camp is a established.
Typically my trips consist of hiking in 10 miles, camping, nex...

This product will work great at base camp or where lakes are your source of water. I returned to get a pump where I can access water in tiny ponds or water falls, trickling sources as you may pass on a mountain hike. It does work fast, but is clumsy with shallow water sources.

I have a life record of about 6,000 miles of hiking and have used numerous different filters. I started using a Platypus Gravity filter about 1,600 miles ago, including a thru hike of the Arizona Trail (800 miles). Probably no better test than the AZT - some of the nastiest looking water I have ever encountered. The Platypus is the best filter I have ever owned. Easy to use, fast, easy to clean, and it just keeps working.
Pros:
Long life, fast, easy
Cons:
None

I haven't used it yet but the quality is first rate and it really couldn't be simpler to use. I may not need it for off the grid camping but it'll do that, no problem. I plan to use it to filter any water source I access on a two week motorcycle camping trip through Canada next month. It only takes one sketchy faucet or hose to ruin your trip. Why chance it? Gravity works is fast, easy and compact. Perfect for my needs.
