Appalachian Hiking shoes

by ser, Verified Owner from DE, United States Written on April 27, 2020
My son is hiking the Appalachian Trail. He started with this shoe. After hundreds of miles he needed new shoes so he purchased a different brand. After only 200 miles, his feet were covered in sores. He went back to this shoe and has been using them for the past 300 miles without a problem. I purchased these to have for him when I meet him as the trail passes through our home state of Massachusetts. Stay with a trusted friend. Hike the good hike. ;)

I liked them

by ser, Verified Owner from DE, United States Written on April 24, 2020
I have a foot injury and am very sensitive to the types of shoes and level of comfort they provide. I went for a 4 hour hike in them on pretty steep terrain and I did not get a single blister and did not suffer too bad. These are good tough shoes, I was very impressed with how substantial and tough they were. I should say I am not a professional hiker but I have done lots of hiking during hunting seasons and in different types of foot wear. No blisters or aches.

Great All Around Shoes!

by csf, from TN, United States Written on March 21, 2020
I love Salewa shoes and boots, these are no different. Comfortable enough to wear causally, but also durable enough for light hikes.
Great shoes and I ordered a second pair to have. I like the GTX models, but there are both - breathability is usually a concerting with GTX shoes, but these are perfectly fine and I dont get hot spots anywhere.

Quality shoes

by Bruce J., Verified Owner from MN, United States Written on March 14, 2020
This is my second pair of Salewa Wildfire Approach shoes. I have average to slightly narrow feet and they fit perfectly. These shoes are very comfortable and supportive, and grip well on a variety of terrain. My only issue is that they are much darker in color than in the picture. Instead of the olive green appearance in the picture they are closer to being black.
Pros:
  • Quality and fit
Cons:
  • NONE
Best Used for:
  • Rugged all around outdoor wear

I LOVE my shoes and the price was right. They gave me free two day shipping since it was my first purchase. They arrived when predicted. Thanks Campsaver, I will order again.

Good looks, great fit

by James J., from PA, United States Written on January 17, 2015
Purchasing shoes online is always tough because of fit issues. The Wildfire comes with a customizable footbed that allows for fitting to both narrow and medium/wide feet. I have what I would consider pretty normal width feet, and the narrow footbed was a great fit for me.

Trying a new shoe out this summer

by No-see-um, from WA, United States Written on May 5, 2014
The main reason I'm trying out these shoes is I want light hiking shoe with a firmer sole. My Northface hedgehog hiking shoe is a bit soft for rocky trails. Sometimes I don't want to wear my hiking boots on a relatively easy hike so the Salewa Wildfire fits the bill between these two. Also I'm always looking for something better so I'm trying out the Salewa brand, seems pretty good.

Great shoes!

by Hik-amper, from MO, United States Written on May 5, 2014
I haven't gotten them on the trail yet, but I have been wearing them around town to break them in before hand. I must say that I will likely be purchasing a second pair to use as everyday shoes (which, by the way, is my meaning behind "I'm into shoes"...I use work boots to dig holes in my yard, running shoes to run, sandals to make my way to the beach...).

These are sturdy yet lightweight. The
