I do not sleep well in a mummy sleeping bag. I tend to turn a lot and sleep on my stomach. This has changed my comfort in the back country by a huge margin. Love the hood as well. It works great even when you are sleeping on your side. Uncomfortable in a regular sleeping bag - get this.

This is my first quilt and I couldn't be more pleased. SD makes quality and innovative products and this 800 quilt is no exception. I recently used it for 10 days in Alaska for backpacking and paddling trip in late July, and found it comfortable, warm and very light. The size and design is obviously well thought out. We had night time temps ranging from upper 30s to upper 40s. I was initially reluctant to take the 800 quilt because it is so light compared to my summer down bag (nearly 1# savings) but when I put them side by side, this quilt had as much or more loft. That convinced me to go with it. The quilt quickly regained its loft each night when I pulled it out of the stuff sack. I am 6ft tall and it was so nice to have the freedom to stretch out at night just like in a bed, with enough quilt to tuck under me when needed and the extra length allowed me to make sure I had enough quilt on my shoulders on the coolest nights. I think this quilt really hits a great sweet spot for design, size, price, weight and temp comfort rating, and I would definitely go with this 800 quilt over the 600 quilt which is nearly 1/2# heavier and temp rated 5 degree higher. Way to go Sierra Designs!

Love this quilt. I run hot and sleeping outdoors in warm weather has always posed a problem for me. Not any more. Gimme this quilt and my Thermarest and I'm good to go. Only problem is having to steal it back from my dog. God forbid my wife ever finds out how killer this thing is. I'll never get it back.

Slept in it down to 25 degrees in Pisgah Nat'l Forest and was snug as a bug. The hand pockets are amazing.... Packs down to the size of a large grapefruit. As a side sleeper, the mummy bag was always restrictive. This has changed everything. I do think that an insulated sleeping pad is a must have accessory to the quilt though.

Didn't really think a quilt would be something I'd use with all my backpacking equipment since I am kind of a snob with good quality and practical equipment. I ended up buying this for my wife for Christmas and she loved it. I tried it one night and was shocked how much I really liked it! So, I bought one for myself. It is super comfortable with the foot pocket and it was big enough that I could completely wrap it around my whole body. I sleep with a down comforter at home and this felt similar. It kept me warm down to the low thirties and Probably down much lower with the right layering. I love the built-in hood, which for me is better than sleeping with a cap. It's light and packs down very small. It really is very functional and I will also take it to the Camino De Santiago, where I'll stay in hostels, and of course I will continue to use it for my cool, to cold, backpacking trips. Wow, I had to eat crow with my snobbish attitude because this really is a nice quality and very versatile piece of equipment.

Love the large size which accommodates up to 6’4” and the built in hood option. The wing arm sheaths are great if you roll over and sleep on your side or stomach. This is an extremely versatile and roomy quilt. There are lighter quilts out there and some come with pad straps, which are a nice option to prevent drafts from the sides, particularly when turning or moving about. SDBCQ can easily be used down into the teens with properly layered clothing and good R value sleeping pad. Dri-down is great, especially if you use it with a bivy bag. Paired with the backcountry bivy which accommodates a 2 1/2” sleeping pad inside the bivy lowers the temperature rating substantially. Its also a good value.

Great sleeping bag. I love how wide and open it is at the top. The only thing to get use to is getting in and out. It would have been helpful if there was a zipper that went down the bottom half so you could open it completely.

I've always used mummy bags and took a chance on this. It is amazing! Super light, warm, very packable. Material is pretty light (thin) but you don't have to baby this quilt. I really hope they come out with a winter weight one. Would definately recommend this item
