I have a 31 inch waist and 37 inch hip. It look like the waist might be a little tight but the hip would be perfect. Turns out the hip was extremely tight, I have to stretch the pant just to get in with just my underwear. It feels like the small is a 32 inch waist and a 34 inch hip. Look closely at the picture, it looks like the hip and waist size are pretty close. The inseam were also extremely long (feel like 33inch on the small), which isn't a big deal since the hem can be tighten.
On the good size, it is extremely light, and pack down to the size of a wind shell. Unfortunately I'll have to return this. I didn't have time to really test this, however it would have been awesome as an emergency rain shell.

I used these pants on a recent multi day trip. Though I didn't hike in them--no need, really, as I prefer upper layers to keep me warm when hiking and running--they were a welcome layer in camp. I used them a couple of time over shorts against mosquitoes, and over long johns in the cold mornings. Especially in the summer (and even at 11,000 feet) they were the atomic bomb of insulation, along with my rain jacket. They pack small, and appear to be pretty water proof (I never used them in the rain).
