Sierra Designs Meteor Lite Tents - 3 Person

by Andrii, from DE, United States Written on February 26, 2025
Very light weight for a 3 man tent (heck even for a 2 man). Packs down small, love the included compression storage bag. Kept me totally dry during a day long downpour in Utahs’s Uinta mtns.

lightweight, sturdy, decent size

My whole package weighs in at 4lbs 3 oz. This include 10 stakes, and all bags. I don't see needing all 10 stakes, it would have to be crazy windy for that. I used 4 stakes - each vestibule and at the mid of each head and toe side. The stakes have reflective cordage that is nice, but may not be necessary if you want to shed another ounce or so. Each stake weighed in at .35oz with the cordage and .3 without the cordage. The stakes seem high quality, but are only 6" or so, if you need long stakes for sand, you may need different stakes, but these should suffice for most soils. This pulls the fly out tight and keeps the tent well grounded. The vent at the top works well, unless there are winds blowing hard, then you get a little water and you have to exit the tent to close. There are 3 storage areas, one on each side at the head side and one in the "attic", it is sufficient, but some at the toes may have been nice - I tend to lose things in the tent. But the size is really nice. For my wife and I, we can easily sit upright and have lots of shoulder room. 3 big people would be tight, but still totally feasible. The pre-bent poles do make the walls very vertical, so the tent feels very big. There are a few color coded bits that are important to pay attention to and they do make setup pretty quick. Without instructions, we assembled the tent in just a few minutes, only fumbling for moment with the fly and where it should "start". Because we did not stake out the corners of the ten...
