Most Helpful Positive Review Great little lantern
I love this little lantern. I love mantle lanterns but i do not like the bulk of them. This lantern is very compact and is perfect for my needs. The only con is that if the lantern bounces around too much on a hike you might ruin the mantle. I would recommend always have a spare. And even if you don't have a spare you can still run the lantern in "candle mode".

Soto Compact Lantern

I bought this to add to my growing lantern collection and to use on Boy Scout camping trips with my son. Fits in the backpack, durable, and I like that you can either use it as a candle or a lantern. The refill adapter is a must have accessory so you can fill it from isobutane containers or with the lindal valve adapter for the aerosol can style butane cans. This is an excellent lantern for the price and I am giving it 5 stars but I wish it had a longer burn time like the out of production Coleman Xcursion or Luminos as they could go for 6 hours before needing a refill. Overall good deal, well constructed but be sure to read to instructions thoroughly as you have to depress the red button on the catch to ensure the lantern will stay lit. If not you will spend about 20 min trying to figure out why you got a defective lantern when it is just operator error.

Very nice little lantern.

This is a very nice little pack lantern for when you need a bit more light or some heat. It is the same as the Brunton refillable lantern that was discontinued several years ago. It is noticeably brighter using thorium (slightly radioactive) such as the Peerless smallest size rosette-type, than with the standard Shinfiji or Coleman mantles. Should you decide to pack this lantern, make sure to bring along spare mantles.

Brunton Glorb Reborn

by Dudley Driscoll, Written on October 16, 2015
FYI to everyone who loves this great little lantern - it is and exact reproduction of the Brunton Glorb lantern that was discontinued a few years ago. I have TWO Glorb lanterns & value them immensely over the past decade, especially on winter camping trips when the extra heat a mantle light throws is much appreciated inside a tent or tipi. The light from the mantle is more than enough to light up your campsite as you move around a fire/stove, during set up or while chopping firewood.
I'll mention that I easily rigged a suspension for the lantern with 2 pieces of small aluminum chain (about 20 cm), a mini carabiner (top) & 2 small key rings placed diagonally on 2 of the chrome globe supports so they slide down for folding. Too bad I can't attach a photo.
Note that the original Brunton mantles were fairly fragile after burning & almost ALWAYS needed to be replaced after every move (every night if you traveled daily). I suspect these mantles are just as fragile. At least now I can finally replace my stock of mantles because I carry one for every night of travel, plus a spare!!
Also you can easily refill the lantern with just a standard Ronson, etc. butane lighter fuel canister if you don't want to carry a bulky isobutane can & adapter (of course, I believe isobutane burns better in colder weather but I never really had problems with the Glorb at -20 C or worse).
Enjoy ;-)

Awesome little lantern!

Very compact fits in my safety kit for my car and as well in my back pack. I love it! produce a generous amount of light for it's size and being able to use it even if the mantle is gone is a good thing.

Great little lantern.

I've been looking for ages for a very small lantern that can be carried around and I've found it! It now belongs to my safety kit in my car for long travel and also in my back pack for hikes. The option of having either candle or mantle mode make it worry free when traveling you'll never be out of light.

GREAT product. Love that you can add fuel. Two lighting features sets this lantern apart. The mantle option is great, the candle option even better
