Torch with attitude!
I have handled several Soto products. All of them are first quality. This torch is the first such lighter that I have owned of any brand. I went with Soto because of their reputation and my experience with the company. This is a top quality product

My results were not so hot
In theory this look like a nicely designed tool but my experience is it rarely lights and does not stay lit when you are moving it around trying to light a fire. I have to press the button 10-20 times to get it to light off. To light a fire it takes me forever based on this. It would be just as ea...

So far, it works well and makes everything easier than before.
The extending arm is the crucial when you start up fire with piles of branches, I can reach center of the piles easily and keep torch the fire starter it really actives.
It holds enough gas for couple days of backpacking trips, and auto camping.
Backpacking trip, I only use when I start make camp fire, so don't use much, but car camping, I used a lot to make fire, start my only burner, gas lanterns, constantly burning bug coils. but it still holds enough gas.

SOTO XT Torch
This is a great lighter at lower elevations, above 5500' not so much. Reason for 4 stars, can't complain as the company says it doesn't work that well above 5000', so I knew that before purchase. The sliding ignition button is a pain but manageable. Extended, the flame head makes it easy to light a stove or fire without burning your fingers. Smaller form factor than a BBQ lighter and refillable is a plus. Get the SOTO refill adapter to use a ISO canister. Time will tell the pros and cons.

Nifty little gadget
It's smaller than a disposable BBQ lighter and works much more reliably. Not that much bigger than a BIC lighter, and the extension means that you don't burn your fingers. Since it's refillable it will be cheaper in the long run, too. You CAN refill it from a regular 8 oz butane fuel cartridge (the tall cylindrical one, not the squatty camping stove one), without the adapter. Turn the cartridge upside down, insert the nozzle in the hole, and press. The little window on the side shows when the lighter is full.

Money's Worth
I'm happy with the product. Exactly what we were looking for! I was disappointed in the shipping. I paid extra for expedited service and the order didn't arrive within the window promised. Aside from that, satisfied.

Nice
Great lighter but returning it. At 5000 ft it works well enough that I almost kept it but at higher elevations not so much. It did not work at all at 8500 ft. so not a good backpacking or emergency solution for me.

great pocket torch
Bought two - one for wife and me for backpacking and emergency situations. This pocket torch is compact, has a viewing window for fuel content, an extendable arm, and hot flame. I found its trigger safety is a bit annoying but you can easily get accustomed to it with practice.
