Great closed cell foam pad

by Jack of All Trades, Verified Owner from WA, United States Written on June 16, 2018
Nice lightweight closed cell foam pad. FYI when rolled tight with straps I can get the large to about 7 inches in diameter, but it's still much larger than an inflatable. As others have said mine was the "Irregular" but I can't find anything irregular about it. :) Comfort as expected for what it is, it's not a 2.5 inch thick NeoAir! But for the price and it's intended purpose it's great. Still Made in USA.

Wow for the price

I find it hard to sleep on air mattresses. They seem too wobbly to me - I never feel like I’m really secured. So I prefer foam mattresses. Down to 15 degrees, this mat is warm. Anything colder, I can feel the cold coming through. Keeping that in mind, this woks for me most of the year. And as other reveiwers have mentioned, I don’t see anything wrong with this “irregular” pad and for the price paid feel like it’s a steal. It’s bulky to carry, yes, but it’s a tank.

Keeps you insulated from the hard cold ground and can take a beating. It's bulky but does the job. Used on extended desert backpacking trips. Chose this over an air pad due to the desert's ability to puncture things.

Therm A Rest RidgeRest Solar is great!

by davidzanemason, from FL, United States Written on January 23, 2018
I was surprised at how light this pad actually was when carried - although be prepared to carry a bulkier package. I absolutely don't like inflatable pads for their unevenness. I found this pad to be an excellent alternative. I tested the pad on several cold surfaces - and found it really did help to provide extra warmth.
Pros:
  • Light, warm, durable.
Cons:
  • Larger bulk size.

Comfertable!!!

While i have not tested this camping yet, I have laid on the floor with it for an hour. We have concrete floors covered in linoleum and I was easily able to stay there for an hour without discomfort. I am sure once i slip this in my hammock it will meet and exceed my needs.

Good Product

I hate having the cold seep up from the ground. My old bones won't take it. This pad under an self inflating stops the chill. Not a lot of cushion by itself. R factor is accurate.
