Thermarest Z-Lite Sleep Pad
I'm a fan of REI and get most all my equipment and clothes from them but this Z-Lite was some $15.00 cheaper through CampSaver and the color was not available at REI. If you're willing to wait a bit for shipping you can't help but appreciate the saving through CampSaver. Also, sleep on it recently and found to be quite comfortable. It's a keeper!

The best !
Love this and the sleep you get on this style camp mattress is the best. Really protects ultra lite blow up mattress from the ground for added support. Holds in warmth, keeps away dampness. Doubles as a comfortable camp chair. These last for years and are time tested and proven to be an essential when camping or even a day at the park or beach! Very light weight, strap securely on a pack and you hardly know it's there.
Pros:
- Comfortable, water proof, holds in heat, keeps other air mattresses safe, portable, feather lite, good for camp, home, SUV travel.
Cons:
- NONE
Best Used for:
- Tent camping, hiking, emergency mattress for SUV, trucks, travel to park, beach, kids sleep overs.

Perfect
I really like this short version of the thermarest sol. It packs up quite a bit smaller and is all I really need.

part of my camp sleeping setup
i am 5'6, 125lbs, in my early 40's, and vegetarian for many years now. which means even though i enjoy the outdoors and camping, i'm looking for a little bit more comfort and get cold very easily. i have mainly car camped (no serious backcountry forays yet) and have used this item a handful of times so far (no winter use yet).
with that said, i integrate this sleeping pad into part of a larger setup for comfort and warmth. i lay this down as an initial layer, on top of which i have the klymit insulated static v. i'm then tucked into my kelty tuck 22 sleeping bag. even with all this, i find that i will still get cold occasionally. so i have another thick coleman 2-person sleeping bag that i can add to the mix and that about makes everything perfect for me. again, i get cold very easily (people often comment on how many layers i wear and aren't i hot?).
i like the sleeping pad because it was a great price, it's very lightweight (for car camping), and it doesn't take up much space. i also feel better thinking that this closed-cell foam mattress is the closest to the ground and would likely take abuse that might puncture the klymit inflatable pad.
if i had to travel lighter/smaller, i would have to lose the coleman sleeping bag. if i also had to stay warm, i would consider the addition of a fleece liner to the kelty sleeping bag or something. i'm likely an unusual case, but hey, if you're like me, this is my experience...

I'm liking it!
I bought this for an upcoming PCT thru hike attempt after debating for a few months on whether to use my current inflatable that I love oh-so-much. Out of concern of puncturing my inflatable and being left with more of a ground cover and thinking of how much I don't enjoy inflating and deflating my inflatable, I decided to give the z-lite sol a try. While the inflatable (nearly 2 inch thick) is obviously more comfortable to sleep on, I will happily take the z-lite sol with me. I've tried it out on just a 2 night trip so far and I slept really well (though I admittedly can sleep anywhere). The ease of throwing it down once I get to camp and then strapping it to the pack in the morning is worth any loss of discomfort to me. Sure, it realistically probably only saves me 5-8 minutes total per day, but when you are exhausted from a long day, you don't feel like blowing up a sleeping pad. I'm guessing it will also be very nice to pull it out in the middle of the day for a siesta and if I were to bring my inflatable, that wouldn't happen. It is surprisingly warm and you can feel the warmth within minutes of laying on it. I was also surprised by the amount of padding it provides for how thin and light it is.
