When I started climbing I used the good ol' ATC. But, when my sister got out of Wilderness Survival courses at NOLS, she dumped all her climbing(new) one me. I had the good old Cinch in the stack. Unfortunately, I didn't know how to use it and really hated it. One day, my climbing buddy showed me how to use it properly and my life changed. I could feed slack through so effortlessly and quickly that I have never used anything since. I have tried to use a GRI-GRI, but they seem very cumbersome and complicated(ironically so did the Cinch). I'm a Cinch dude, that is all.

I love the cinch! It's simple, very easy to feed out slack when lead climbing, and just feels like a normal ATC when toproping.

I love the cinch. I have been using it when I saw that it did what the gri gri did, only cheaper. It feeds better than anything else I've used... which is just about everything. the only downside to it is that it doesn't lower as well as the gri gri. learn how to use it and love it!

I have used every kind of belay device, and i like the cinch the best. It feeds better then the grigri and i have never had a problem with it. Just make sure you learn the proper way to feed slack for lead climbing. Just as you should with all your gear. Climb safe

This is a great device and very good alternative to the more expensive GriGri
Essentially you are trading the more intuitive use of grigri for the lighter device and smoother feeding of the cinch.
I almost never use my reverso for single rope anymore
