Finally, I can report I've found a coat, sweater, jacket (whatever you want to call it) that does what it promises! This Westcomb item is lightest, warmest, most functional piece I own. It's all based on the light weight, rugged fabric, and the 900 fill hutterite down; you can scoff if you want, because the jacket seems flimsy, but it's as warm as if it were much more burly. I walk every day (about 3.5 miles per hour), and work up some pretty good perspiration - yes, even in winter. This jacket, on top of a couple of Icebreaker wool layers keeps me comfortable down into the 20's! Maybe it's just my constitution, but that seems amazing. Also the mesh fabric on inner sleeve / sides of the jacket does what it says it will; it keeps wind out pretty well, and it helps vent body heat, so I don't completely "sweat out" the coat. Again, pretty amazing. For a light, durable, warm, and breathable jacket to work this good is more than I expected, but for me it does. Because it's so slim-fitting, it also layers really well, so it can be a mid-layer under a good shell, and over a merino wool layer, and you're good to go down to ZERO, or below. This one's a keeper!
