Most Helpful Positive Review Aaaargh in between sizes!!!!!
I love this item; can't wait to be out and about camping in the Rockies this winter with it. I wear a 43 (because US sizes vary so much; I have completely skipped the whole ~am I a 8.5? 10? 9? 9.5? mess of variation); and just go with a 43. And usually with a Spenco insole for the cushion my 300,000 mile military retiree body enjoys. My Lowa's are "8.5 UK, 42.5 EU, 9.5 US, and 274mm" all on the same tag (none of these line up vertically on the sizing chart; that says A LOT). They fit great with the three layer Spenco inside of them. I also like the neoprene insole for the added in...

Sole is very thin, Upper section above ankle has very little down

by JohnK, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on January 16, 2023
Just so that other potential buyers are aware:
!. The sole is very thin and probably won't provide much insulation. I'll need to insert a pair of wool insoles to keep the bottoms of my feet warm.
2. The upper section above the ankle has very little down. The photos seem to show that the upper section has about the same amount of down as the lower section.
But I like them and will carry them on my winter camping - backpacking trips. I also wore them at home for one day this winter and they work well at home. But as I already have other gear to keep my feet warm at home, I will most likely use them exclusively during winter camping - backpacking trips.

Out soles need improvement

by John Kang, from CA, United States Written on January 13, 2023
(1) The outsoles are thin and not sturdy. I will need to insert a pair of my wool insoles to add warmth. (2) There's no down above ankles. I read many reviews before ordering them, so I was aware of what's good and what's not so good about these booties.

I've been considering a Western Mountaineering sleeping bag costing over $1000 and as I needed booties I thought I'd try these to check their quality. Outstanding in every way. I'm sold on the brand if everything they make is a well crafted as these booties.
Pros:
  • Very warm
Cons:
  • maybe too warm
Best Used for:
  • cold

booties

These are great, comfortable, and fairly sturdy. I just wish that the elastic on the ankle was either adjustable, looser, or not there as it is fairly restrictive on blood flow. But otherwise I love them.
